Svi Mykhailiuk, Jazz Agree To Four-Year, $15M Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 9, 2024 8:03 pm

The Utah Jazz and Svi Mykhailiuk have agreed to a four-year, $15 million deal. Mykhailiuk played 41 games for the NBA champion Boston Celtics last season.

Mykhailiuk is represented by Michael Lelchitski, who is also the agent of Lauri Markkanen. Markkanen signed an extension with the Jazz earlier this week.

It's barely above a minimum contract, what's the big whoop?

Final year is likely a team option for $5 mil, so this could be a steal for the Jazz. It’s low risk, potential high reward.

Seems like rewarding the agency as much as it is the player. Yet again the bottom 15% of NBA is just guys with good agents or agencies with secondary clients that get favours done based on what happens with premier clients

4 years above minimum for a completely replaceable, probably non-NBA guy is just straight up bad work unless you’re trying to grease an agent.

This is non-guaranteed after year one and will fit in the room exception. In other words, this actually doesn’t require any cap space right now.

Shrewd signing for a tanking/rebuilding team.

It’s a journeyman that knows how to work and has won a ring. He’ll bring intangibles and provide a body in case a young player isn’t playing or prepping right.

Just because you don't recognize his name doesn't mean he's "probably a non-NBA guy". He's solid.

I do very much know who he is. I also am aware that no team has ever suffered from his absence.
