The fit is just undeniable. This being a Knicks board of course, everybody’s in denial.

That's pretty cheap. KD automatically puts the Knicks in the finals.

Feels like we paid more for Bridges

We don't have real FRPs...

And Randle's value is kind of low considering he is an expiring contract.

at this stage bridges should cost more. he's a 27 year old ironman. KD is still elite but 36 in a month and has injury concerns. you're banking on hopefully getting 1 elite year from him.

Only win-now teams on the cusp would look to acquire KD. So 1 or 2 year window is fine.

The Suns know that...which is why I'd imaging they'd tax the living daylights out of anyone who wants to get him. Have to pay the "desperate contenders" tax.

Is Phoenix still a win-now team? If not, then Randle and whatever first rounders we have left (we can add Dadiet) should be a solid offer.

They're most definitely a win-now team.

But I've messed with that trade checker and assuming the Nova Boys are untouchable ....Knicks are an over apron team and don't have the salary to send out to make it work. :-?

And even worse, Phoenix is an over 2nd apron team.

Few understand this

The Randle version of the team - were going to win around 50 games for the next five years but likely fall short in the playoffs

The Durant version of the team - you have a very small window (1-3 years) to compete for a title

and we are never going to compete for a title depending on Randle to show up.

That was the point

And frankly the Bridges trade was a trade wasn’t a trade to compete for titles. It was a trade to secure a 5 year playoff run.

Because right now there is no realistic path to upgrade from Randle and get a championship level #2 scorer (outside of the protected DET or WAS conveying in the late lottery - which I think the DET pick has a 50% chance and the WAS pick a 5% chance)

This has nothing to do with Bridges and everything to do with Randle. Going all in on Bridges locked us into Randle just like going all in on Tyson Chandler locked us into Amare during Melos prime.

If you have a chance to team Durant and Brunson using the limited assets NY has left you do it without thinking about it.

Brunson/Booker/Anunoby/Durant can go head to head with any top 4 in the league. And you can make the rest of the roster work around them.

Who cares if it’s only a 2 year window. You build to get these kinds of opportunities
