I hope Jokic joins the NT again next year for the Eurobasket, it's time these guys finally bring home the gold.

Wouldn’t you want to save him for the WC and OLY (27 and 28)? i think that’s the more prudent thing to do with his age, and well you want to be in good graces with the Nuggets so i think he gets the 2-year break from the NT but will join them in the Qatar realizing the missed opportunity in Manila WC last year.

If he feels ready to play next summer, I don't see why he would "save" himself for some future events. It will mostly depend on the Nuggets playoff success and how exhausting the season is for him.

Sure. Point is he’s not getting any younger, so i won’t be surprised to see him pass on some tourneys like last year.

Something like USA-Serbia. Just a little push at the right time :D

Sure.

Congrats to Serbia and Jokic for winning the bronze.

But more importantly, providing us what should be the greatest game of all time involving Team USA. We’ll never forget about it for a long time.

Just to be clear I never questioned USA win. Two things can be truth. A little push from the refs and deserved win. Good luck in the fina0ls

Great stuff from Avramovic, now I see why they were so locked in today. Such an important player.

Better than USA-Serbia lol

You can keep whining over and over again, but the refs had nothing to do with that game.

According to that poster, Jokic has never legitimately lost a basketball game.

Everyone one can see that. Seriously, what are you even arguing about? You are like arguing about nothing standing in front of a mirror.

Just for future discussions, get to your argument quicker, it will save everyone time.

lol, seriously.

I understand it seems quite straight forward and I possibly used the wrong words. But I believe if your going to have a open discussion it would be best for everyone’s best interest to get quicker to your main arguments, instead of going back and forth for quite a while, it seems pointless.

I forgot that the gold medal game in Tokyo was France vs USA.

Hopefully it's the same result this afternoon.

If Slam Dunk was added as part of the Olympic competition do you think star players who don't participate in the all-star game slam dunk would try for it?

Seriously. If they got people 'judging' break dancing in the Olympics now...

Serbia and most European countries care about Eurobasket, WC and Olympics pretty much the same.

Eurobasket there is no US so its more shameful not to medal in it, so people will hope he plays in Eurobasket

He is not wrong though I can say for a fact Jokic has never legitimately lost a basketball game ;). All kidding aside. Let’s see Curry get his gold. Long time coming for him. :)

After USA-Serbia game some youtubers (not Serbs) questioned refering

I actually think we will see Jokic play for Serbia more now that Nuggets are getting weaker as it is more likely he will be out of playoffs sooner

This is not something I am wishing on the Nuggets but the less deep Nuggets go into playoffs the more I see Jokic playing for NT

Maybe that is not true, its just what I expect from knowing about him and knowing our NT

Of course he lost a lot. Minesotta this POs, GSW before, Suns...

But I know you don't like I was questioning Kevin Durant in foul trouble in 2012 finals, Steph Curry in foul trouble in 2016 finals, Jokic in foul trouble in 2020 WCF, and even :D :D :D Book and Durant in foul trouble in 2023/24 in season tournament SF and ....Turner fouled out in 2023/24 in season tournament finals :D :D :D :D

In the US the most important target is NBA ring

For Europeans its usually the NT.* and that means WC, Olympics and Eurobasket
This is why in Serbia people value Bodiroga over Stojakovic and Divac and while Jokic was heavily

In Europe if you have 0 NBA rings but won multiple awards for your NT they respect you more.

Missing lesser tournaments is not encouraged or respected because its a smaller player pool you have in the country anyway. This is why when american players pass on WC for Olympics euros usually just look down on them in terms that they consider them not to be patriots.

This is also why a lot of euros respect Melo and Bosh more than a lot of better US players - simply because they view them as more patriotic in a way.

I understand NBA has nothing to gain from WC and Eurobasket compared to Olympics so its marketed and viewed differently in US

*discounting a small % diehard ultras or hooling fans who only care about domestic titles vs domesting rivals and euroleague titles

Actually, the opposite. Quality of basketball national teams is not evenly distributed around the globe with Europe having vast majority of it. For instance, this Olympics have included USA, Canada and Australia - but I miss competing against Lithuania, Slovenia, Turkey, Croatia, Italy and Russia (politics aside) to validate any medal being truly won. That is why I don't truly care for silver or bronze medals and only value matches against USA from WC and Olympics.
