Who do you want to see represent USAB in 2028?

Post#1 » by walk with me » Sun Aug 11, 2024 2:08 am

Here’s the pool - who would you want to see and how far do you think they can go? I would have set up a vote but it’s impossible, only 10 options and like 20 something guys worth considering.

PG - Ja, Deaaron Fox, Brunson, Trey, Haliburton, Cade
SG - Maxey, Booker, Antman, Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown, Jaylen Williams, Bane
SF - Tatum, Scottie Barnes, Mikal Brides, Brandon Miller, Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram
PF - Paolo, AD (will be 35), Chet Holmgren, Zion, Jarret Allen, Aaron Gordon
C - Embiid (will be 34), Bam, Myles Turner, Jalen Duren, JJJ, Evan Mobley

Undrafted options - Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Cam Boozer, AJ Dynbasta

Edit: I personally think a gold medal team can come from this team but they will actually have to be seriously coached and not play pick up style basketball.

Yeah, better question/ poll is who will be the “leader” of the team right now. As that’s likely not going to be one of the young guys that need more development.

I think there is good chance it’s KD returning off the bench for his last Olympics in LA. Maybe Steph too

The best team will be:

Morant | Hali
Booker | Reaves | White
Tatum | Brown
Holmgren | Bam | Flagg
Turner | Allen

I hated when Draymond said it about the Suns and Booker. Either Charlotte needs to get it straight ASAP or he needs to get out and go out and play meaningful basketball somewhere else.

I'd much rather have Brunson than Ja. And the Reaves love is absolutely out of control. Very close to what I'd pencil in 4 years in advance, otherwise.

Select 2 players randomly from each bucket(including your undrafted options), and that's the best team in the world.

Who are the role players, the glue guys, the specialists? Talent does not always equate to the sum of its parts team.

I think Ant Edwards, Cooper Flagg and Chet Holmgren would lead that time. I wouldn’t also count Reed Sheppard out.

I think the most important lesson learned from Olympics's and last FIBA loss to consider for 28’ , if we win possession battle we will likely win the game. We are only losing if we get out rebounded or carelessly turn the ballover. Really need to keep that in mind for the next team.

Chet is the only under 25 high level inside/outside two way big we have right now, he has to be on the team.

Olympic rosters is difficult to predict

4 years ago I don't think we would have predicted more than half the roster. Anyone can fall off in talent and anyone can jump up in talent the next 4 years.

I actually forgot Edwards. He'd make it in over Reaves or White actually.

But I was basing this on who has performed well in FIBA plus stars.

I don't think Morant should rep the country.

Jayson Tatum would just be around 30 years old
