Definitely sucks to lose top athletes to the US. We need all the help we can get but at the same time, it's great they can get the best training in the US.

They also mentioned Summer Mcintosh almost got her US citizenship but that got delayed for some reason and she represented Canada instead.

I didn't hear this. She was actually going to represent US? Any source, I can't find anything.

I forgot what channel it was but that's what I heard. They also said later after the Tokyo game the US told her her US citizenship is ready but Mcintosh was like no thank you she is representing Canada, that's also according to the commentator, not from me or online source.

Perhaps she was just interested in getting her citizenship, since she spends most of her time there now but she never actually considered representing the US at the Olympics?

That would make the most sense to me.

Summer McIntosh should be the flag bearer, but if they decide on 2 of them, Phil Wizard would be a nice choice.

You need to find the source for that because there is nothing on the internet at all. Not even a rumour I can find.

Yeah there's absolutely nothing. Even if someone said something on TV, it would have been reported somewhere.

From everything I've seen and read, she considers herself Canadian and is proud to represent Canada.

Maybe she was interested in getting her US citizenship at some point but I doubt she wanted to represent the US.

I'm just the messenger repeating what I heard on TV, you probably need to ask this question to the CBC crew doing the game or the commentary

Sorry but I don't know. I think you misheard/misunderstood or something.

How is it possible there's not one single mention of it on the internet?

If this were true, it would be all over the place.

Please provide a source.

Well I don't know how I can misheard it unless they are actually talking about someone else not Mcintosh but pretty sure they were talking about her while replaying her race...and they did talk about her being born in Canada, her mom being Canadian Olympian and her sister as figure skater so now thinking about it I'm pretty sure they were talking about her. You are right though it's strange there's not one source about it making me think maybe I have a senior moment

I tried and didn't find anything. I would assume if it were true, it would be pretty easy to find.

They were probably talking about the male swimmer Ilya Kharun, who won two bronze medals. He was born in Canada but grew up in the US and was planning to represent them at one of the Junior Championships but didn't have a US passport. He only held a Canadian passport at the time so he said forget it, I'll just represent Canada instead.

I think what you heard matches up to his story almost exactly.

She trains in Florida.

Did anyone bother watching the closing ceremonies?

I just happened to channel surf onto it. The stadium was dark, flickering lights, spooky music, then the most annoying commentators had to go ruin it. I had to mute it. Saw some gold goof prancing about. Saw (my daughter on any given Friday night) come out carrying what looked like the flag of Greece. The Assassins Creed dude raised the flag. Then a Chevrolet ad flashed onto the screen and ruined it with a blinding, super annoying commercial, and I was outta there.
