And I love Lively, but to suggest you wouldn't give him up for Steph Curry. Cmon bro. One season of Steph is probably still worth more than an entire career of Derrick Lively. You guys really do not understand how value MVP or near as level seasons are somehow.

To help you, take Luka off Dallas. Not only are they not a Finals team. They aren't a play-in team. Steph is still nearly a Luka level player.

Sometimes we are way too blinded by our fandom.

If he runs the show, steph is still amazing. Being what, fighting with kyrie and klay for 2nd guard spot? This isnt carlisle era, playing 4 guards isnt gonna win u anything, which means...klay+kyrie/steph off the bench. Yeah, that lockerroom would have an amazing atmosphere.

Look TC, I know u are oldschool but the stack as many stars as possible and worry about fit and team later just doesnt work anymore with todays cba specially. Suns tried it, went to ****. LAL tried it, went to ****. Nets tried it went to ****. When did it actually work last time?

With todays cba u need to have a plan or its basicly doomed. Cant just shoot in the dark and think the stars will figure it out somehow. Just not enough bad teams and players for that. A player with 80% capacity most often gives more to a team then the 100% with no role/fit

I kind of like the general idea for Dallas I think, but as written there is nothing to get Golden State interested.

Its green, not steph. Wouldnt do op as mavs fan. And i wouldnt add lively for anything gsw got, including steph

thats a wild take

Didn't Raptors fans decline to entertain Scottie Barnes for 33 y/o Lillard, when TOR had absolutely 0 perimeter creation and Siakam/OG/Poeltl? but it's wild that a team with Kyrie Irving, doesn't trade a 20 y/o game changer defensively for 36+ y/o Steph?
Mavs don't beat the Thunder last year w/o Lively, do they beat them with Steph?
I would add caveats on a bald proclamation like I wouldn't trade Lively for Steph, but I have it as less wild than demanding Lively for Draymond Green at the current state of his career and his suspension history, yet one caused an uproar the other was fine.
Steph Curry is 36.5 y/o, a small guard with injury history, you're trading for what's left of his career, not what he has done.

Raptors didnt have a top 5 player in luka on their team to go all in with and was no where near contention. Your team just made the finals...

Two wrongs dont make a right. Obviously lively for draymond is pipe dream too. I think a kyrie + lively as the core of a steph trade makes the mavs better

I also think so, for 1 year, more than that would be wishful thinking.
Mavs have forfeited the block of picks from 27 to 30, Steph won't be playing in the NBA in these years, Lively would still not be in his prime yet.
I highly doubt simply upgrading Irving to Steph would've put the Mavs past the Celtics last year, let alone giving up Lively.

Curry in and Lively/Kyrie out doesnt make them champs last year and very much opens them up to losing to the Thunder without Lively dominating the paint and boards. Mavs should see Lively as their Draymond to Luka's Steph for the next decade and it makes little sense to give that up for arguably a better shot at a title (and ya it is arguable with what would be a very thin FC after this deal in a West that has become very big the past couple years)

The Raptors made the right decision not moving Scottie for Dame. Would’ve been a horrible move.
