Sounds like Pratt got some reps as QB2 today over Clifford

I've already seen enough from Pratt to know that he should be the entrenched #2 behind Love. Not sure what else they want to see from Clifford. He's just not a talented enough passer to ever be anything more than an extremely limited game-manager type.

Fully agree. Pratt's arm talent is significantly higher than Clifford's. If they want to keep Clifford around as QB3 because he knows the offense and is a smart guy that's fine, but Pratt should be QB2 and get the chance to play if for some reason Love couldn't go

Both kickers in the low 80 %s in camp so far. Which is right around the career norm for both. I'd still keep Carlson over Joseph if it's between those two because atleast there is hope Carlson could develop into more but I wouldn't be shocked if they pick up a kicker after cutdowns

I’d much rather just roll with Jacobs, Wilson and Lloyd at this point. There’s really zero need for Aj Dillon on the roster even if switching his role seems like a good idea in theory. We have an insane amount of players already higher in the pecking order who need the ball in their hands. Dillon is on a level below 6 WRs, 2 TEs and 3 RBs, why in the world are we still beating this dead horse?

I agree. I'm not even a Dillon hater, I mostly think he's fine. He's not a great runner but he's a solid pass blocker, has good hands, and rarely turns the ball over. But I'm not cutting Jacobs or Lloyd and I really like what I've seen from Wilson last year & this year. Worth noting to that PFF gave Wilson a high quality pass blocking grade, granted only on a handful of snaps but if Wilson can do the little things reasonably well then there's no need for Dillon. Only way I'd keep Dillon is if the Lloyd injury puts him on IR to start the year

At some point, with the location sensor in the ball, they will start analyzing ball motion and placement by the snapper and holder. I'm not sure tells them anythig useful, but it will get measured. Those guys are facotrs too.. I think Whelan gets a good subjective mark as a holder, but Orzek may be iffier, even with the cut of the former Badger

Taking a stab at the 53-man roster cuz **** it, I'm bored and I don't think two more preseason games will tell us much more anyways:

QB: Love, Pratt (2)
RB: Jacobs, Lloyd, Emanuel Wilson (3)
WR: Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks, DuBose, Heath (6)
TE: Musgrave, Kraft, Joel Wilson, Davis (4)
OL: Walker, Jenkins, Tom, Myers, Morgan, Monk, Rhyan, Glover, Dillard, Newman (10)
Edge: Gary, Van Ness, Smith, Enagbare, Brooks (5)
DL: Clark, Wyatt, Slaton, Wooden (4)
LB: Walker, Cooper, McDuffie, Hopper (4)
CB: Alexander, Stokes, Valentine, Nixon, Ballentine, Rochell, King (7)
S: McKinney, Bullard, Johnson, Williams, Oladapo (5)
ST: Joseph, Whelan, Orzech (3)

Notable cuts: Carlson, Clifford, Dillon, Melton, Caleb Jones, Ben Sims, Eric Wilson (too many Wilsons)

I don't think there is any way they go with only 4 LBs.

I think they're more likely to keep six linebackers than they are four.

At the current moment this is what I think they'll do

QB: Love, Pratt, Clifford(3)
RB: Jacobs, Dillon, Lloyd, Wilson(7)
WR: Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks, Melton, Dubose(13)
TE: Musgrave, Kraft, Davis(16)
OL: Walker, Jenkins, Myers, Morgan, Tom, Rhyan, Monk, Dillard, C. Jones(25)

IDL: Clark, Slaton, Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden(30)
Edge: Gary, Smith, Van Ness, Enagbare(34)
LB: Quay, McDuffie, Wilson, Cooper, Hopper(39)
CB: Jaire, Stokes, Nixon, Valentine, Ballentine, King, Rochell(46)
S: McKinney, Bullard, E. Williams, Oladapo(50)

K: someone not on the team
P: Whelan
LS: Orzech

If it's my choice I'd keep Ben Sims, Travis Glover, Anthony Johnson Jr, & Brenton Cox over Sean Clifford, AJ Dillon, Andre Dillard, & Corey Ballentine

I personally don't see the need to carry a 5th-6th inside linebacker, but if Cooper can't get healthy then that obviously changes things. I think we're gonna play a ton of big nickel with Bullard and Evan Williams, and we're much more stacked with depth in the secondary. I'm all about keeping the best 53-guys.

Then most of the rookies aren't making the team.

King and Glover maybe won't, but do I think they're better players in 2024 than Luke Tenuta and Benny Sapp? Yeah, absolutely.
