Raptors tied for last among (US) nationally televised games

I'm sure some will say duh they are a Canadian team, but they play in a majority American league and it's probably not great for free agency for the team to have such a low profile in that regard.

I have to imagine they had more US television games in the Carter era given how big a star he was then.

Not sure what the issue is - you need to win. Raptors were a bottom 8 team last year and we are in a rebuild were we offloaded our best player in Siakam. Scottie is up and coming but he isn't a household yet who garners much attention outside of the Toronto market.

Portland, Detroit, Chicago, Washington and Brooklyn aren't small markets by any means but they all have either 4 or 5 games, similar to us.

We're at best a play-in team with no star and our viewership doesn't count in the ratings. Did we expect anything else?

US networks don't care about Canadian viewership numbers, this should never be a surprise.

A 'chip or a top 5 superstar may move the needle a little bit, but money always wins and US advertisers drive that bus.

if every nationally televised game was evenly distributed amongst teams they'd each play 18. some teams just garner more viewers than others.

if every team played once per week every game could be nationally televised. would that make you happy?

We ended Detroit's losing streak. We each have 4 U.S. national games. It should be every time we meet.

I think it's about right this time.

Lakers looks like another play-in team but they still have LeBron and they are in LA, GSW sucks but that's the Curry power. OKC should get more, PHX should get less...

NBA cares about stars. We had games with VC and when Raps had Kawhi. If you got none even as a winning team, you won't get much

We don't deserve any tbh. No true superstar and a play in team at best. Even Canadian fans will struggle to tune in this season once the sucking gets unbearable.

Even when we were really good for all those years, we didn't have many. It is what it is. Being the only non American team negatively affects this regardless of how good we are.

It definitely doesn't bode well for signing big name players but it's all about ratings. As good as Scottie is, he isn't as marketable as Vince was when it comes to the casual fan.

25 win team doesn't get massive media exposure, water also wet, more news at 11.

Biggest travesty here is Houston. That team is really fun to watch. But I'm not bothered by it as prefer watching on League pass so less national games for teams I want to watch, the better for me.

I don't think it's a Canadian thing at all. We're not likely to be very good and Scottie isn't that big of a name/ratings draw. Brooklyn and Chicago are valuable franchises in big markets and they got one more game compared to us.
