What would be an adequate way to lose?
They were planning to lose, and they did. Mission accomplished.

This roster was not going anywhere, anyway.

The best way to lose games would have been to trade more of their good players, but they have entered a really bad zone of trying to tank with a fairly competent roster and a bunch of young guys with motivation issues.
So yes, the Jazz have to lose by telling their players to not play hard and by faking injuries. But this is extremely bad.
Will Hardy has no real sense of self-preservation and his ability to get jobs in the future if he thinks it's a good idea to tell players not to play hard.
