Poor excuse that 14 other teams would be regretting this since this a Blazers forum. This is why Schmitz and Cronin gets paid millions to make sure no stones are left unturned. My concern is Schmitz has wanted Clingan since age 14 and Clingan is not a generational type player.

There is always a strong possibility of missing out on a better talent, but one thing I can't imagine doing is worrying that we didn't have a different strategy to build around Ayton.

Eh. Weak draft. 7th pick - not top 3. Clingan looks to have a Pryzbilla floor and a Camby ceiling. The shooting thing was more of a concern because he was taking low percentage shots as opposed to using his size and wingspan to his advantage. But a Blazer playing defense is something that I haven't seen in quite some time.

Deni was probably the real key acquisition this off-season. Unfortunately, I can never remember how to spell Avdija, and googling "deni Blazers" fills the search results with ads for denim blazers. Not exactly the look I want to go for.

Will Clingan be exposed defensively during pick and rolls against smaller players when he’s forced to switch out into the perimeter? Is he less mobile than Ayton?

Not sure how his mobility stacks up but his effort and IQ ought to be an immediate improvement over Ayton.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Also, Schmitz apparently had his sights set on Clingan since he was in HS.

This is correct. Deni was priority #1,Donovan was(from what I've been told) #3 on our board.
