Just mentioned how Ray Allen was named to the 2000 Olympic team over VC, and Vince went into Milwaukee and put on a show right after, going hard at Ray. I can't recall how Vince got on the team after all, replacement for someone obviously.

Me too. Many would look at it now and say not enough threes, the offense is too crowded being mostly inside the arc . But it looks more like basketball to me, analytics be damned

Players posting up, mid range shots etc. actually allowing defense.

Agreed. Maybe we're just old heads complaining

They chose the national TV games by optimizing and balancing big market games featuring Lakers, GSW, and major contenders.

I don't think there was a hierarchy among the bottom 8 teams in deciding what game they would show. They are just the opponent. People want to see the other team. They are the opponent of the Globetrotters

The network doesn't care enough to show Charlotte, Utah instead of Toronto games. It is indifferent to them. Some teams had 4, other had 7 games. It was just good or bad luck.

That stretch from 2004 to 2014 wow lol. 4 national games in 11 seasons loll. We've had some real rough times man.

2004-05 was the last last season Vince started with the Raps before being traded so even the schedule makers knew what a disaster this organization was. Vince was healthy too. Coming off a season where they were coached by a psycho that did not believe in offensive rebounding and scores in the 60-70s. New management drafting Hoffa. Vince infighting with management. Truly was a low point for how US media viewed the Raptors (other than before the VC era).

Vince was top draw in other stadiums... let alone Toronto and Canada.. people paid to see him.. and the networks reflected that... top tier superstar. He and Kobe were what fans wanted to see...

Carter was top vote getter for 2000, 2001 ,2002, 2004 in NBA allstar games.... 4 times ( tying Kobe and Julius Irving with 4). Only Jordan 9 and Lebron 10 had more than Vince. Remarkable company.
... no other raptor has accomplished top vote getter in an NBA ALLSTAR game since Vince.

Clippers getting 21 games is weird as hell. PG13 left and Kawhi is always hurt, who's clammoring to see their games?
Is it the new arena?

This is going to drive down the value of our players. It plays a part in the national narrative the league is pumping through ESPN and other media sources. This would also be a reason we don't have a single all star this upcoming season.

Or, more realistically. We have a bad roster with only 1 high end player, and we will be a losing team.

But no, you're right, it's because of the televised games

If we make the Semis and Finals of the in-season tournament, we'll get 2 more.

Literally the end of the nba’s golden era.

Best competition and quality of play.

NBA TV games do not matter. Even the Utah Jazz have more. I will not even see the Raptors/Knicks TNT game as it falls on my 40th birthday.

As much as I liked the game back then, I would always wonder why they wouldn't emphasize the three pointers.

If a big guy was left wide open at top of the arc, I would have him shoot, and crash the glass.
If a few drop, that's good, and the misses off the rim, can Cause a little chaos when rebounding.

It's something I'd want to actually try out with Jakob, especially if we're running a big lineup.

The two biggest fanbases for any tv game are almost always the two markets playing in the game which is why teams from cities with high populations like LA, NY will feature a lot. So unless you have a nationally recognized superstar or your elite team, you won't be on national US TV. The Raps are at an even bigger disadvantage compared with other US cities because the Toronto/Canadian audience doesn't count towards tv ratings in the US so ratings are entirely dependent on the other teams fanbase and casuals.

This has always been the crux of the Raptors problem. Some fans and posters like to say, but Toronto is one of the biggest markets. Doesn't mean a thing. It's a disadvantage for the Raps difficult to overcome

Yup basketball brain trusts were just egotistical — even as a child I was easy to understand the player’s opinion:

Bot teams shoot around 43% so whoever shoots more will win more……
