Explain?

He fills up the box score, and his advanced stats are off the charts. He also passes the eye test.

I don’t know how anyone can watch him play and claim he’s “overrated”. He’s a basketball savant.

Embiid gets way too much praise during the regular season, but right now i'd say he is appropriately rated.

Jaylen Brown is a bit overrated on here, people are so critical of Tatum despite the fact that the defensive attention is primarily on him first and foremost. I don't necessarily think team USA was wrong for choosing Derrick White over him, who pretty much just showed up to play defense and shoot open shots.

Currently Trae Young. All time on realgm its Kevin Garnett. Its laughable that some people on here try to convince us he is top 10 all time.

Overrated or over-hated ?

Here's Kobe at 22 , 2001 WCF vs the team favorite to win it all ( one of the countless examples), just after demolishing the Kings with 48+16

Bryant's 45 most ever against Spurs in playoffs

Shaquille O'Neal has been convinced. Kobe Bryant is the best.

"I told Kobe that he was my idol," O'Neal said. "I'm serious. He's playing phenomenal. I think he's the best player in the league, by far."

Bryant fell just three points short of his career playoff high of 48 set in his last game, the series clincher against Sacramento. It was the most points ever against San Antonio in a playoff game, surpassing the 43 Hakeem Olajuwon scored for Houston in the 1995 conference finals.

With 93 points in consecutive games, Bryant was drawing a comparison with the greatest big-game player ever -- Michael Jordan.
Horace Grant kept referring to Bryant as "No. 23," the number Jordan wore. It wasn't a mistake.
"I knew what I was saying," Grant said.

O'Neal said it wasn't the points but the way Bryant scored them that was so impressive.
"He's been getting his points, getting everybody involved, drawing and kicking, doing the right things. Somebody once said the mark of a great player is how you make the other players around you play. I now can truly say that Kobe Bryant is the best player in this league."

https://www.espn.com/nba/2001/20010519/recap/lalsas.html

Kobe was 22 at that time, and the most impressive thing is that he only had one 3 pointer made, and played vs one of the best defensive teams of all time ( Duncan+ Robinson Spurs )

The 01 Spurs guard rotation was one of the worst guard rotations ever seen on a contender. Go look up their stats that series, it's a literal joke. In hindsight it's very obvious the Lakers should have been the overwhelming favourites, and by next year people had clued in and they were. It's easy to look good when prime Shaq is drawing all the defensive focus, yet Kobe had a tonne of playoff stinkers and actually has a pitiful 135-137 record from 00-07 in games Shaq did not play. From 00-04 Shaq had the Lakers playing at a 60+ win pace without Kobe.

Towns
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Not most overrated but Wembanyama has Williamson like hype and people already think he is a top20 player in the league (some even say top10?!).

He has to grow his offensive game before he gets there.

Honestly, I think you could very easily make the argument that pretty much every single all star player who isn't elevating his team to a top 6 overall offense in the NBA and isn't a plus defender is substantially overrated.

Yes, great offensive talent but not an overly efficient scorer or a guy who plays much defense. Was in a lot of top 10 lists for a lot of years and the blame for losing was always his teammates but if you don't buy-in on defense as a star its hard to get all the role players around you to buy in when you are the guy getting all the money and shots. The best players/leaders play both ends of the floor.

The correct answer is: Draymond Green.

Put him in almost any other scenario and he could be out of the league.

You can't be serious...

Draymond would've been way better in 2024 in the Olympics for team USA vs Hali & Tatum

True Point Forward with way better defense & High IQ
I'm not even a Green fan but he's a winning player
Bronny will become Murray 2.0
