Erik Spoelstra, Ty Lue Favorites To Replace Steve Kerr As Team USA Coach

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:14 pm

Steve Kerr is expected to step down as the head coach of Team USA. Kerr has coached the team through the last cycle, which included the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics. Kerr also assisted Gregg Popovich at the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

USA Basketball is expected to choose between Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra and LA Clippers head coach Ty Lue to take over for Kerr. Both Spoelstra and Lue have served as assistant coaches for Team USA, including at this summer's Olympics.

If it's not Spo, that's embarrassing.

Why are they even talking about this 4 years in advance? Grow up. Nobody knows what's going to happen over the next 4 years.

What 4 years? Fiba America's is next year which is the qualifying tournament for the World Cup in 2027 which is the qualifying tournament for the Olympics.

Spo is the right choice. Succession plan of Coach K to Pop to Spo to Ty is great for USA basketball. Who all have served as assistants before becoming head coach. International tournament experience is invaluable

Heh, I feel like you have no idea how international play works. I mean, you're kinda a meme right now with the whole "tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me."
