KAJ was below league average scoring efficiency for only 1 season out of 20 seasons

LeBron is currently below league average scoring efficiency for only 1 season out of 21 seasons

Jordan was below league average scoring efficiency for 4 seasons out of 15 seasons

Countless merged threads later, Jordan still has 65% of almost 400 votes, a very significant sample size.

People can keep trying, I guess.

#goat #winning

By the time the season starts Jordan will have 300 votes

I can only really see Wemby (hopefully healthy career) having to come close to Jordan

He had 3 seasons (his last 3 seasons) out of 20 seasons that were below league average scoring efficiency.

Kobe seems to get the moniker of inefficient but his career happened during a time that the whole league was less efficient and more defense orientated.

Wizards years are a given but i am susrprised jordan has 2 other subpar efficiency years.

I am guessing it is 95 and 86 low sample seasons?

Yep it is surprising.

I think what is also surprising is that he was voted in as an all star in 86 after only playing 3 games that season prior to all star game.

RGM skews to boomers/gen-x/early millennials. It's really not going to change here; we are set in our ways. I'd be interested to see what the younger millennials and gen-z think on this topic, as they'll start to become the dominant voice on this debate within a decade.

It is already been shown. There are a lot of videos out there asking people under the age of 30 what they think and LeBron dominates those votes.

It's like asking people over 60 who they think is the GOAT. Different generations have different opinions. MJ fans just panic because they haven't lived through a time yet after Jordan where a lot of people don't think he's the GOAT. Well it's happening more and more now

I Just feel like this topic needs to be a sticky especially on the General board forum.

Can we officially have a goat debate topic thread and any new threads Involving the goat debate be merged into 1 topic?'

BTW happy 4th July for the US

Who Is your all time Goat?

Date Is: 7/5/2024

It has been 1 week since I have posted this and wanted to do an update

*JOKIC* Some have been wondering why I included Jokic In the poll, This Is mostly for the new generational fans who all think "Jokic Is Him"... There were also a few threads a few months back and especially after Denver won, saying "Jokic Is him" his the best Center all time even ahead of; Duncan, Wilt, Shaq, Kareem, Hakeem etc etc I mean GTFOH Y'all just trolling at that point lmao.

So that's why I included JOKIC

The Poll: As for the Poll sadly you can only have 10 slots ( wish you could do more). All the guys I picked are In my top 10 goat list, just not In that order. Minus Jokic and "other Insert comment" I have Shaq and Bird In my top 10 goat list.
When It comes to Polls you can't sadly keep everyone happy, as the next 100 people gonna say something about It and think you're wrong - even though It's IMO

I also did have Wilt In the poll Instead of Curry, but because Curry In my top 10 list, I changed It, no disrepect to Wilt.

*** Please Keep In mind, just because a player that's not In the poll, doesn't mean you don't have to talk about that player, feel free to talk about anyone WHO YOU think Is the goat - but If you want a debate out of It, don't just list the player - give your reason too.

*** Please also this only goat related topic, don't go off topic about politics and other weird non related basketball topics - It will be reported.

Peace Out Slim.

OP, can you change the poll to include Wilt? I think it's disrespectful to leave him off. The guy 100% deserves to be on the list. If you simply change the last poll selection to Wilt, it won't change any of the other votes.

For me it comes down to either Jordan’s scoring or LeBron’s sheer number of all nba teams for playing for so long at such a high level. Both can turn it on defensively.

End of the day I’m going with Jordan’s fire power over Lebron’s longevity. Jordan did more in less time. I think if Lebron secured that 3peat I’d lean his way, that’s how close it is though. The Cleveland title was cool but Curry played like dog **** so I didn’t feel as hyped as some people.

Jordan shot over 50% as a Bull and was the scoring champ and Finals MVP every year he won a championship. He has more 30+ point games than Lebron who’s been playing forever. He legit casually drops 30 on any given night. Over half of his games played were 30 or more and that includes as a Wizard

Lol love the fact you had to quote the entire first page.

Sadly no I won't be changing the poll, as it will start peeing off people too much as It already has

You call yourself an NBA fan but leave Wilt off a GOAT list while putting Kobe, Curry and Jokic on there? You disgust me.

Jordan prime played in a league that had 10% more possessions than LeBron during same age.

If you scale them to 100 possessions. From entering the league to first retirement, Jordan compared to LeBron put in 3 more points per 100 but made 2 less assists per 100. Jordan got an extra 1 steal per 100. They both had similar Blks, TOs and TS%.

Their output is honestly very similar. LeBron played more total minutes though, both in RS and playoffs.

The only joke here is your bogus ass poll choices. No Wilt should be a bannable offense.
