Report: Pirates Have No Plans To Shut Down Paul Skenes

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 20, 2024 12:16 pm

The Pittsburgh Pirates are not planning to shut down rookie Paul Skenes and do not have him on a set innings limit for 2024, according to a report.

If the Pirates were to lessen his workload, they\'d reportedly shorten some starts instead of skipping them entirely.

The decision comes despite Pittsburgh entering the week well under .500 and in last place in the National League Central.

To this point, Skenes has logged 125 1/3 innings, 98 of which have come at the Major League-level.

This is a welcome change. The precedent have always been shut the rookie down and option him to minors to manipulate service time
