CamJ & DenS to Utah
Nets trade:
Cam Johnson & Dennis Schroder
Jazz trade:
Colin Sexton & Jordan Clarkson
26 1st - 2nd best of MIN/CLE/UTA
27 1st - 2nd best of LAL/MIN/CLE/UTA
•
Brooklyn throw more into their vault, so that one day when it opens up... it'll be good hopefully
Sexton/Clarkson/Thomas makes for a pretty ecstatic backcourt for this era of Nets bball
Sexton / Simmons
Thomas / Clarkson
Bogdanovic / Williams
Finney-Smith / Clowney
Claxton / Sharpe
Utah adds a majestic running mate next to Lauri, and creates a better cap situation going forward for added flexibility in the offseason to further bolster the roster
Schroder can teach their guards a lot & feels like a great fit here if they make a run for the Playoffs this year
George / Schroder
Williams / Juzang
Johnson / Hendricks
Markkannen / Collins
Kessler / Eubanks

Re: CamJ & DenS to Utah
We'd win a similar number of games but be out picks, no thanks. Sexton is probably the best player in this deal, too. Just very unappealing.

I have Sexton as better player than CamJ, and CamJ is more injury prone, you can argue CamJ is more valuable because of position, but not by a lot...
Clarkson/1st for CamJ is intersting though.

Lol
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

Why is utah adding picks?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: CamJ & DenS to Utah
Ainge isn't giving up any picks at this point although I'm sure Clarkson could be had for a SRP or maybe even an expiring. Sexton was low key their best player last season mainly due to all of Lauri's injuries but Ainge would still likely deal him for decent pick(s) coming back. They do not want to win many games this coming season.
Cam J does nothing for the Jazz. I could see them trade picks next summer (or the summer afterward) for an all star type player if they land a stud such as Flagg/Ace/Dybantsa in the next 2 drafts.

Johnson is the perfect 6th man to any team.

If then, will you downgrade your starter, add 2 more 1st round pick and trade a gd sixth man for a so call perfect 6th man?

I don't think Johnson is worth any picks. If Utah is including Sexton, that is the prize and worth. Everything else is filler.
Also going after Johnson, what does that do to Hendricks? He needs playing time.
I think the trade also depends on what the goal is. If Utah is looking to lose, send Sexton/Collins for Simmons/Schroeder. Fanspro says this is a 5 game loser for Utah. It also clears a lot of money off the books going forward.
Brooklyn would probably be against it as rumor is they want financial flexibility moving forward.

Cam Johnson is EASILY the most valuable player in this deal, undersized shooting guards like Sexton who benefit from an enlarged role aren't all that valuable. Clarkson is negative value at this point, so unless it's a good first I wouldn't do it for the Nets.

As opposed to tweener forwards who aren't really fit to guard quick perimeter players or strong players and don't rebound well?
Both players have flaws, both have utility, both are best used as 6th men and not starters.
I value Sexton rim pressure and 3 level scoring more than CamJo shooting and size.

Yes, 6'7" combo forwards who can shoot the 3 at an elite rate with good volume and aren't defensive liabilities are much more valuable than 6'0.5" shooting guards who stat pad on bad teams, it's a hell of a lot easier to slot Cam Johnson into any winning team than it is to do the same with Sexton, in fact only one of them has proven he can be a contributor on a very good team, and it isn't the one you're advocating for. Not particularly close either.

I don't credit Suns success for their 6th man, it's more probable that Suns would have success with Sexton as their 6th man than CamJo being the difference make, as evident by his not spectaular result in Brooklyn.
I disagree with your take, while I don't feel that strongly about it, and do understand if someone prefers CamJo, I am confident you were hyperbolic in declaring CamJo as easily the best player and in upper case nonetheless.

If you are calling out warts, let's not forget that Cam Johnson is a very poor rebounder.
Well at least we're not Detroit!
