Michael Silver is reporting that the Niners were aware that Pearsall had a shoulder issue entering the draft, but hoped it wouldn't be a problem. He's not missed significant practice time on two separate occasions because of it.
If this dude has a longterm injury issue that impacts his ability to make a significant contribution to this team, I'm going to be so irritated. A healthy Pearsall felt like something of a reach at 31, and this draft was crazy deep at WR. They just can't afford to miss on that pick after flushing three first rounders down the drain for Lance.

I think you have a typo in the second sentence? (Not instead of now?)
But very much agreed on the irritation. Sometimes it does feel like their arrogance as an organization leads to being cavalier about things we can’t afford to be cavalier about. Or they just aren’t very detail oriented (like SB OT rules) despite having a reputation as perfectionists. Not sure, but they sure do like burning up high draft capital for temporary lighting.

Yes, meant to say "now." Hopefully the shoulder thing isn't a recurring issue, but it's crazy to me that they would take him in the first round knowing this could be an enduring problem. He may be super talented, but if he's not on the field, what's the use? And especially at a position where there were lots of talented guys, why take the chance?

Re: 2024 Training Camp
dude has played every game the last 3 years in college so I am hoping it is something that can heal up soon and not a season ender
I hope it isn't true that they knew because he participated in OTAs so it couldn't have been that bad

Yeah hopefully he's not another Kinlaw where they knowingly took a guy with injury concerns and lo and behind he had injury problems as a pro.
Felt like the team learned it's lesson after that and only gambled with injury prone guys in the later rounds so hopefully the shoulder thing is more of a fluke than something that will be a frequent and constant issue.
