That style of play would have worked wonders in the playoffs, can’t wait to see it this year.

He was taking 6 threes per game in January when he went down. That's a lot. Randle genuinely enjoys taking 3's.

Nevertheless....Captain Brunson needs to tell Randle to ONLY take corner 3's. He's lights out from the corners. Terrible from wing/top of key.

8 of those 14 games were against lottery teams.

Against the quality opponents, we went 4-2...which is not bad, but it's not amazing, nor is 6 games a sample size large enough to put much stock in.

We will have to wait and see. But there's no doubt the overall team is better now, and I believe the OG effect is real. He was great for us in the playoffs.

The Randle going Super Saiyan in January is a myth

For being surrounded by glorious shooters in Jan, Randle's playmaking wasn't any better in Jan than in December.........he averaged more turnovers in Jan than any other month while averaging the same amount of assists he averaged in November.

Image

Offensively, his best month was December, and it's not even close. And his shot diet was better quality. Also In Dec he shot a blistering 76% less than 5ft. :o

Image

He sure did take a lot more 3's and extra long 2's after getting OG though. He needs to cut that out. Looks like defenses adjusted to his bully ball in Jan since his efficiency dropped by -20% at the rim and he felt the need to shoot further out... I'll have to watch the film.

Was Randle getting selected for the All-star game also a myth?

"Was mirror quinoa gazelle a moonrocks placenta?"

That's how your question sounds to me, since it has nothing to do with anything I said.

Maybe it sounds like that because it contradicts everything you said.

I don't think the January month is overrated at all in my opinion. We destroyed some really good teams and Randle was much more efficient next to OG. OG became more efficient as well.

Brunson also played extremely well in that stretch too.

He turns 30 in November, he's a 4 with no positional versatility, he doesn't space the floor, and his defense has been inconsistent at best. You can imagine not too many teams would be interested in his profile.

Here? He's a good fit because our primary ball-handler isn't a great playmaker, and Randle happens to be a really good one for his position. He also provides scoring punch as a secondary that the team desperately needed before we acquired Mikal. Which isn't to say Randle's limitations haven't been a problem for us, but his strengths are highlighted here.

But with both Mikal and OG here, I think his strengths are less needed, his weaknesses arguably exacerbated.

I think only 3-4 teams would give up equal value for him. Teams desperate to make the playoffs, like Golden State or Houston, would be plausible candidates. Otherwise? I don't think he fits on too many teams (or their timeline).

why do you think no one values Randle?

That's the word from Fred Katz. League source said his trade value is "neutral at best."

That means Knicks did shop him and got no interest.

It actually means we did not shop him. Here's the quote.
“Randle’s contract is fair. He makes $28.9 million this season and can become a free agent next summer. But the fear of having to pay him, especially when his skill set makes him such a specific fit, makes it difficult to find suitors willing to give up any package that would be worth it for the Knicks,” Katz wrote. “As I’ve reported already, there is no indication the Knicks are trying to trade Randle, which means it’s difficult to gather a true gauge of his market.”

Yeah I am glad Randle is a really bad player so no one wants him. Looks like we're stuck with him for another decade

trade him now for a 4 & 5

with the depth the team has they really only need defense and shooting .

trade ideas

randle for Avdija and robert williams

randle for ayton who believes he’s capable of playing 4 and did it in his 2nd season

randle for jonathan isaac and wendell carter
Its because I'm green isn't it?

Randle for Ayton doesn't make us worse. He's a very good player, still has upside, and is youthy.

That would slide OG to the 4 and give us a more modern lineup to take out the Celtics.

yeah but the blazers are rebuilding and have no use for that trade and are we sure ayton has it in him to be a legit number 2 option?

He'd share that role with Mikal. "Superstar trade package" Mikal needs to step up and do his thing.

I remember OG claiming he wanted a bigger offensive role as well, but I think that was cap....he just wanted to audition for a contract. With his lucrative extension, he's likely cool with the 3&D role at PF.

Let me just debunk this offensive thing because hack writer took a Nurse quote and ran that **** to ground and other outlets didn't bother to source it out.

This thing came from Nurse at the end of the 21-22 season. OG never said he wanted a bigger role. He said he wanted to be included more in the offense, which translated to having more plays called for him. And that's exactly what Nurse did in the following season. The exact quote was, "He wants to be more a part of the offense, so I certainly can help him with that... but it's kind of a working relationship that he's got to go take some of that."

OG has never said he wanted a bigger offensive role in NY. This offensive thing was just regurgitated from an old quote.
