I think your counter offer as of right now is a clear trade value win for Memphis if we could make this trade right now, but I think we prefer a future 1st over McCain since he would be buried here for the foreseeable future and rather have the non depreciating asset. But by the time this trade can be made the trade values are going to shift quite a bit most likely.

If Aldama plays up to what we hope then we are more likely to keep him for our playoff push versus trading him for McCain or a 1st. If Aldama fails in his role then his trade value will fall well short of McCain's value in January and not worth a 1st either, but Memphis doesn't really need McClain and likely not interested in paying the difference in value at that point in time.

I have DFS worth a decent 2nd more than Kennard as of right now, but if DFS shot is still gone in January that might not even be a swap we want to make at that point. But a Kennard/Rose/2nd(s) for DFS trade in January could for sure be a legit avenue we take if feel we need the vet 4/3 still.

GG Jackson is the most valuable player in that trade by a long shot. DFS is still a stout defender, but he's no longer a reliable shooter, and D-but-not-really-three players who also can't handle and can't create anything are not very valuable. McCain may well turn out to be a good shooter, but he's untested, the Grizzlies are fielding two undersized guards already, there's not really room in their guard rotation at all with Morant, Smart, and Bane taking up basically all of the minutes, and Bane plays his role right now anyway.

Jackson alone might be worth more than DFS and McCain to the Grizzlies. For them to add Aldama, Kennard, and Konchar on top of that? That's robbery.

That makes it more even, but I'd still have minimal interest in McCain if I were the Grizzlies -- and I'd want DFS to have definitively un-regressed in the meantime.
