I'm glad I wasn't in the middle of drinking my coffee this morning when I saw ESPN last year ranked Jalen Hurts the #3 overall player in the NFL.

Overall I was hoping for a mediocre backup who at least had flashed the ability to do something in an actual NFL game. Now we just have another more tooled up project to go with our other project.

Now, just drop the idiot kickers, & bring Crosby back as a stop-gap for a year. Then actually draft someone, who doesn't suck.

Didn't realize how bad Willis was in his 3 starts. 0 passing TDs and 0 100 yard games.

With his running ability, MAYBE you can tread water if you change the offense like the Bears should have done with Fields.

I would've preferred that for sure.

For a 7th, sure why not get a look but my expectations of Willis are really really low.

It's odd. The Packers have never really seemed to value a veteran backup. I understand the benefit of developing a guy, but the truth is, these guys won't meaningfully develop without consistent playtime and we don't want to be in a situation where Malik Willis is getting consistent playtime. Having a vet who can spell the team for a few games if Love gets hurt could pay dividends.

I will add - we've spent three picks now in the last two years - a 5th on Clifford, a 7th on Pratt, and another 7th on Willis - and we don't know if we have a decent backup QB at this point.

It takes time, especially for the small school QBs. A year ago it could be said the Packers spent a 1st round draft pick on a QB and had no guarantee QB of the future. That's changed. I understand the risk here but I think he'll give you more than a Mike White would and fits the mold of the Packers offense at QB. But we shall see, or hopefully not.

The only thing I'd say in his defense is that he was very clearly not ready to play as a rookie and shouldn't have been out there. Whether he's markedly improved since then is the question.

Any chance they just like Willis as the developmental guy more than Pratt/Clifford and they might still be looking for a vet backup in case jordan goes down.

Quick question, assuming Bakh is healthy, is it possible to bring him back or any NFL rule prevent it because we released him?

Nothing would prevent us from bringing him back. It is interesting there hasn't been even a whiff of interest in him around the league. Have to believe that means the knee still isn't healthy enough to play.

If they weren't confident in Carlson I don't understand why they didn't draft a kicker in April.
