They better bring up Ballesteros when they get to add teo players Sept 1st. We need that bat!

All Mo Baller would do is sit. Between Cody, Tauchman and Suzuki, that trio have RF/DH covered. And as a catcher, Mo Baller is NO WHERE near ready to be a catcher at the ML level. Which means, Moises would be a bat-first player without a position. There is 0% chance Ballesteros gets called up nor should he. There is no need to rush his development.

You play him over Tauchman at DH all day.

He’s a long ways away as a catcher. Fully agree. Probably be a DH and backup catcher.

Even if you do that you still have Bellinger and Suzuki. You are not sitting either for Mo.
Caissie is more likely to be called up, because of defensive flexibility, than Moises. I like Mo and is high on his future but calling him up in September will likely hurt his development. He is 20, let him chill and cook at AAA.

He’s hitting better than Cassie and that guys strikeout rate is like 28%.
Mo has the best bat in the system. I see him like a lefty Miguel Cabrera. Natural and pure hitter.
Calling him up won’t hurt him a bit. Give him a cup of coffee and hopefully he hits well. Belli Suzuki and PCA can all have a rest day. He can pinch hit for Amaya or Betancourt.

But there is one BIG difference....Caissie is Rule V eligible this year, thus he needs to be rostered, Moises does not.
I am a big believer in Mo and his bat but NOT at the expense of rushing him. I want the Cubs to be patient with Mo.

Cubs got to within a game of .500 and then lost two one run games to a first place CLE team. Hopefully they can bounce back.

Cassie will be the call up because of that very reason.

Cubs rollercoaster season continues. Super soft schedule remains. They need a 6-8 game win streak to get within a game and make the baseball that remains meaningful.
Down on the farm Shaw and Mo are looking good. Alcantara and Triantos playing well too.
Inevitably there will be a trade this winter of some prospects for a big bat.

Weird the Cubs let go of Neris today. He was their closer for a good while. I guess it had to do with having to guarantee him money next year.
Seeing the Cubs play DET today reminds of seeing Javy Baez return to Wrigley. He's hitting a mighty .184- for how many gazillion dollars per year?

He sucked. 1.5 WHIP. Couldn't be trusted + Financials.

Neris was not good just slightly lucky. If he was merely used in MR, maybe he would have been fine but as a closer, he was not good. Timing is weird, I give you that, but it was a move needed to be done.

This was fun!

Great to see PCA and Amaya making big strides.

Re: OT: Cubs Offseason Thread
Cubs finally make it back to .500! Suzuki with 2 dingers and a triple, and PCA with another home run. Shota gets his 10th win. With better support he could have 12-14 by now.

Re: OT: Cubs Offseason Thread
I think I was very wrong about PCA.
Now that he has some plate discipline he looks like a major league hitter.
Amaya is on a tear. If it wasn’t for all the injuries to pitchers and Nico and Dansby slumping Cubs would probably be right there.
Go all in and get Juan Soto this summer and these Cubs could be fun.

Amaya has been red hot. 4 more RBI today. And Dansby with the grand salami.

Cubs put Smly on waivers and he’s been really good.
Clearly pivoting to the farm.

Plus it helps them get under the LT.
