LAC trade: Powell, Tucker
LAC receive: Collins
Utah trade: Collins
Utah receive: Huerter, Tucker
Sacramento trade: Huerter
Sacramento receive: Powell
Why for LAC: upgrade PF
Why for Utah: free up some money next year and buy low on a young-ish wing

This puts the Kings in tax, doubt they'd be interested, especially with Powell being a defensive liability also...
Clippers need shooting, desperately, don't see them trading Powell away for non shooter.

Huerter is a defensive liability too. I feel like their identity will be to outscore the opposing team after getting Derozan. Might as well add to that. Maybe Kings can dump a filler (Mcdaniels?) on Utah to get out of tax though
I think Clippers need big body at the 4 even more, and Collins can shoot the 3 a bit.

Agreed. This is how they’d view it.

Huerter on ball game, offsets his inferior shooting, maybe, I think they'd just stick to the devil they know.

Zero chance kings do this Huerter is traded for a defender and one over 6’6

LAC fans are totally out on swapping Powell for Collins, which is understandable. They suggested Tucker and Mann. Really dislike Huerters game and contract, but this is good value if we can get it. Could also make sense without LAC if the Kings have more salaries to aggregate.

Why would anyone trade a defensive player for a bad one in Huerter?
Powell is at least a better defender than Huerter.

Powell is not a good defender....
And while I have no idea if a team would trade a good defender for Huerter, its easy for me to see a bad team who gains no benefit from a good defender being willing to trade that player for a guy who helps provide space for young players they want to develop.
Spacing helps bad teams because it creates an environment for young guys to operate and evaluate them. Good defenders on a terrible defensive team aren't adding much value.
That's the clear logic behind the swap.

I believe it was one that suggested Tucker and Mann for Collins (besides myself, but I also added that Clips would need to get incentive in return, which Utah is not in a position to do.
I could get behind Powell for Collins, esp if the FO thinks that Jordan Miller's summer league play will translate.
And yeah, while Powell may not be a good defender anymore (unless he fully zeroes in, which he hasn't in a while), he is a tier or three above Huerter.

Powell has at least shown that he can be a decent defender in the past. Huerter is a complete sieve. And much worse than Powell overall as a defender at present. Meanwhile, Powell is light years ahead of Huerter offensively.
And which bad defensive team has a good defender who is only worth Huerter? Why would any team trade good defense for mediocre offense? It's not like Huerter is some lights out floor spacer, otherwise the Kings wouldn't be thinking about trading him. Just as an example, do you think Brooklyn would swap DFS for Huerter straight up? Of course not. There's zero logic at work here. If teams have a good defensive player on the roster, that player is an asset, and they are not going to trade their assets for Huerter, who has neutral value at best.

Barring some trade that takes them a level or two up Sac is not paying the tax. Everything they’ve done this offseason suggests that is the case.
