Re: Summer Runs and Random Player Sightings
I gotta say Chomche really does have a lot of potential. He just moves very fluidly, he's not a stiff athlete, and you can see it in all parts of his game including his shot even. Actually that shot looks like it will be viable long term.
There are some picks where they're "athletes", but their athleticism isn't useful in a game because particular things, like lateral quickness etc. aren't there. I think Chomche has what you can view as in-game athleticism. The stuff he's athletic at, are things that will be useful.
Out of the three second round guys (Mogbo, Shead, Chomche) realistically the odds would indicate at least two won't pan out, and I think Chomche is the one who's going to have value. I really think he will at least become a 18-24 minute a game very good defensive big who can make the odd shot. There's a less likely higher ceiling in there as well, but the tools for it are there which is exciting.

Chomche is also by far the youngest player in this team.
Youth + that size + mobility
A small part of me hopes he is like an Andrew Bynum. Will take atleast 2 years, but he can really breakout.

You don't want Chomche to be Bynum. Guy was a lazy bum who had like 1-2 good seasons, got paid, then dashed.

Like a Bynum is a good comp. Ulrich will have a jumper hopefully, & maybe play both 4&5 but I see what you are saying

Bruh if we can get an All NBA season out of Chomche, we are cooking.
Stop being unreasonable.

Bynum had discipline issues and doesn’t have the passion for the game. If you had hated Bargnani, Bynum was even worse. I would take Amir Johnson’s career over Bynum.

We're laughing to the bank if he proves to be a starting-caliber player.

Likely most of it is. He's got those noob gains going for him not carrying much muscle mass to start with.

He doesn't look like a frail boy anymore in the recent pics.

He is starting to look like a legit starter at 3. He has always had the length for it but has lacked the strength.
If RJ, IQ and Dick can do a decent job containing their man on defense, I like this teams future prospects.
We just need to develop a bench and more size.

He said he's about 214, & ended last szn at 205.

There in lies the problem a bit. I think all three of those guys top out at passable on that end, and odds are all three don't get there, and even if you do, you have no one fit to guard elite assignments out of that group. So, there's a bit of a dilemma there. Maybe, Grady ends up being a great 6th man rather than starter so an elite defender/ 3 and D guy starts, maybe you trade one, or maybe you find a way to get a guy as good as Bam Adebayo defensively at the C spot that can raise the floor of the whole team defensively. I think that group can be good offensively, but I'm not sure they can be great to the point where they can outscore other elite teams; We just kind of saw how that played out in the finals this year.
Some people get upset saying these players are the core like being in the core means they're untradeable, specifically RJ getting hate for being in the core. That's not what it means, core pieces are tradeable, but for now the team is invested in their development, so enjoy the ride and cheer for these dudes as long as they are here.

I don't know about the future prospects of Dick as a starting SF, but I do think he's the best option on the team right now. Especially in terms of size and spacing for the other starters. Better than 6'4 202lbs Bruce Brown or Ochai who can't play basketball

I'd argue that having him as the 6th man might provide best balance to roster, as bench scoring is very thin, and Brown offers a glue piece and a guy that's solid defensively starting. I mean, depends on if we want to win, but a motivated contract year Bruce might get us something in return at deadline as well. I look at it with an open mind where either could be the option, but it should be earned in camp. Never been a fan of handing young guys a starting role before they've earned it.

The thing with Gradey is that he works much better when offense is created for him. He struggled in summer league when he was forced to create, and he's likelier to have to do that off the bench. I'd bet he looks best when he gets minutes with the starters, allowing him to move around the court to get open, cut when he's able to etc.
