Good article.

For reference, Sal Frelick's average swing speed is 66.7 with a 2.2% fast swing rate (higher than 75 mph). Turang's average speed is 66.5 with a 4.2% rate. Both guys are gonna have to start letting it loose at some point.

Seems like something that would hurt the Brewers more than most.

I think Jomboy and some others have said that the 6-inning minimum may not be the final implementation.

Maybe it's the double hook DH where you lose the DH after your SP comes out (sidenote: Ohtani behind an opener).

The Brewers are a smart organization and would adapt to find the next most efficient way to build a roster, though. That said, I agree to a certain degree. Similar to college sports changing and basically chopping off the market inefficiencies that the Badgers exploit - the Brewers cannot develop imperfect pitching with depth as a strategy anymore. It will funnel towards paying high-end SPs.

Would just be another way to further kneecap small market teams in the long run so I'm sure it will happen in some form.

Corbin Burnes took a beating tonight. 10 hits, 8 ER in 4 IP against the Red Sox.

ERA over 5 the past 7 starts. I'm typically not a hater on former Brewers but Burnes annoyed me a little on his way out of town.

Austin Riley is basically donezo. Might not mind seeing the Braves in the playoffs, oddly. Though I guess Albies should be back by then.

Reads like a free agent horror novel. Almost makes me think it's good to be limited on payroll so you don't give out these contracts. But then I remember teams like the Dodgers and Yanks can have horrific contracts and just eat them and spend more.

MLB seems to be set up where you're underpaid if good and young then eventually become overpaid when old, so it kind of evens out. But man do so many things about the economics of MLB appear out of whack.

Burnes got lit up for the 4th game in a row. 5 ER in 5.2 innings. 20 ER in his last 20.2 innings

I'm not sure why the MLB would make any changes before letting the robot call balls and strikes. Continuing to have a person do it in 2024 is like having a horse pull your F-150 around.

Just me over here venting about the only outcome of the season I'd hate - which is the Cubs beating the Brewers in the playoffs.

I realize their odds of making it are still about 2-3%, but I'd like to dance on their grave and I'm convinced they are not going to lose again, as they're about to complete a comeback from down 10-3 to the Pirates.

The reverse jinx didn't work. God damnit...the Braves have luckily stayed hot - but just lose a **** game please.

100% agree. My nightmare scenario is Brewers-Cubs in a 3-6 matchup and Cubs win it. I hate the wonky best of 3 wild card round and could see Brewers pucker up in a split crowd game at AmFam.

Thankfully, the Braves just keep winning. Padres and D-Backs probably are far enough ahead that it doesn't matter.

Every time you look at the Cubs schedule, they're playing the Pirates, Nats, or Marlins.

They have one brutal week coming up and then go back to playing the minor league teams for the final 3 weeks. They were probably an 85 win team playing like a 75 win team earlier this year with bullpen issues. Now they're healthy and will make a push, but they're running out of time.
