Yeah, I don't know how we're not better with Randle than without him so I hope he's at full strength and ready to go. If he's locked in it will make defending us very difficult with so many scoring options on both the starting unit and the bench.

If healthy, we're possibly the deepest squad in the NBA. Having Hart, Donte and Deuce coming off the bench is pretty incredible. Combine that with what I think Kolek is capable of and I expect some of our wins to come from the second unit increasing our leads while the starters rest.

Yeah, considering the Knicks first 4 off the bench is probably:
Donte
Hart
Precious
Deuce

that's a nice bench.

What is even better, and I'm aware of the thing people say where the last 4 guys on the bench don't win games, but to have some combination of the following available is really something:

Kolek
Cam Payne
KeitaBates-Diop
Sims
Dadiet
McCullars

Deepest Knick team in 50 + years

Knick team is absolutely loaded except at C.

Still feel like they are going to do something here possibly at the cost of Duece.

I've come to the conclusion Deuce is off the market for everything other than a superstar trade. He is improving rapidly and locked up on a sweet deal. Everyone will want him, but we get to keep him.

Deuce has everything this club wants: upside, likability, work ethic, dependability, adaptability, grit, fearlessness, team first.

Just like Grimes was untouchable?

Knicks are playing for a championship this season.

As the roster stands, a 15-20 minute bench guard is not the difference between a championship or a 2nd round exit.

A quality starting center, however, is the difference (assuming everyone else is healthy).

If the cost of a quality starting center is Deuce...he's gone without hesitation.

Knicks shouldn't panic trade Deuce for a C yet. I would wait to see if Mitch gets in shape, see if small ball works, try Precious as a starter. If all of those avenues fail then yeah you have no choice but to make a trade. But we have some options for now.

Agree with you both! Trading Deuce now is silly. Other Cs are bound to be available later on

There's a surplus of starting caliber centers likely to hit the trading block? :o

have a few examples?

Jonas, Capella, Kessler, RWilliams, maybe Stewart, possibly Lopez... and it depends on how teams start the season as to being buyers or sellers

Kessler is only 23 and making 2.9m per. We could trade Deuce straight up for him.

Show me how we trade for those other guys on your list? Who are you giving up to match those salaries?

Probably, yes. McBride clearly isn’t a player anybody would give away just like that.

I just saw the hoopshype top 30 centers and that position is really stacked.

Utah is stacked with guards so there’s no need for Deuce for them. And Ainge wouldn’t trade Deuce for Kessler straight up. He’s gonna ask for way more.

I like the kids as much as anyone, but It's time to get a trophy before Wemby shuts the NBA down. We are stacked in the backcourt: Brunson, Mikal, Donte, Deuce, Payne, Kolek.

A player who's projected to play 12-15 minutes per game is untouchable now?

Mitch WILL miss a ton of games....it's inevitable. If his annual missed games happen in the postseason....you're cooked and you can't look for a trade to replace him.

No one is suggesting trading Deuce simply for nothing... it would be to acquire a promising young piece who solidifies our center position so we can make a run at a championship.

Or maybe you see Deuce as getting 25 mins per night and our center position is stacked? How do you have the rotation?

3-team… Deuce to 3rd team, Kessler to NYK, and picks go back to Utah. Not that far fetched especially if Hardy is the long term coach. Kessler may not fit his style.

It's fair to say the Knicks weren't just looking at Tyus Jones and then nabbing Payne just for him to rot on the bench.

let's assume Brunson is playing his usual 35 minutes.....Mikal gets his career avg 33 minutes...

That leaves 28 minutes in the backcourt to be divided among Donte, McBride, Payne...and a coach who only goes 9 players deep. And we don't even know if our starting C is ready to play.

Can someone please post a projected Thibs-like lineup/minutes distribution with the current roster??

last 4 years

Joel Embiid
224/328 = 68% games played

Mitchell Robinson
186/328 = 57% games played

Return to New York Knicks
