Love CC's game. The only negative is the turnovers but that will improve with experience.

If that's accurate, that is crazy, as you said.

id rather people keep making themselves look like fools. As a wnba noob it helps with weeding out who to not pay attention to in the future. This debate was over before the break.
I dont equate her entire career to one comment, but i can never forget Monica Mcnutt indicating a month into the season that team record should be the determination of ROY (while the sky were ahead in the standings). Unless you want to be one of those hot take clowns you need to protect your sports reputation.

She's averaging like 21 and 10 over the last 20 games.
She will average a 20/10 in several seasons of her career at the very least

a snap shot of where many people were at in June. I agree with some of the other comments Geno makes here, but im a bit prickly today so decided to post someones L.
A all time rookie class would be an interesting list to see. Had Brink not gotten hurt i have to believe 2024 would be up there.

Poor Geno. He must be astute, given the extraordinary track record of his teams, but since I haven't followed women's basketball until very recently and have only heard him say 3 things, all of which concerned Caitlin Clark and all of which were foolish, in my personal experience he is a buffoon.
Item #1 - He said Paige Bueckers was the best player in the NCAA last year. No, Geno, she wasn't. I know that you are loyal to your players, but you can praise Paige in other ways besides making a false statement that indirectly insulted Caitlin Clark.
Item #2 - When asked about how he overlooked Clark during the recruiting process, instead of giving a rational answer about how he underestimated how good she would become, or how he wasn't focusing on PGs that year because he felt he was already set in the position, he blamed Clark for not contacting him. Say what? Is that how recruiting works? The coach just waits around until the players come to him? Nonsense. Not even UConn does that.
Item #3 - Above.
It would be best if in the future he were to answer all Clark questions with something generic like, "She's a great player and great for the game. I wish her well."

Lol, I remember that. Yeah, I don't think that worked out the way she wanted. In fact, IIRC, the Fever overtook the Sky in the standings a day or two after she said that.

Dude.
Monica McNutt is not a clown, she is an excellent analyst who knows more about the women's game than all of us put together on this forum. I don't agree with the notion that records should play a role in ROTY but that's not some outrageous take that warrants her being called a clown. As someone who has watched her grow her career here in the NJ/NY area, I assure you she's not a hot take artist. I have to defend her
I really am at a loss as to why people are talking this topic so personal. Any praise for or support for Angel Reese from anyone in the media gets met with outright hatred and it is weirding me the f*ck out.
The race is clearly over. It was mad fun to watch. I'm happy about how it all turned out as Clark has been insanely good. But damn

CC is so good. Is this what it felt like watching rookie Lebron?

Honestly? No. And LeBron was amazing in year 1.
But he wasn't hitting like CC is with this team. They are a serious threat in the playoffs.
Clark's passing ability at 22 is on a level that LeBron wasn't touching at 19. She is one of the best playmakers I have ever seen.
Jason Kidd. Steve Nash. She's throwing out those kinds of sick dimes and her step back three is becoming even deadlier.
She's a frightening talent tbh

Angel Reese is a grown up person that chooses to do things she knows people won’t like. She is fully aware of what she is doing when she cheers on a cheapshot.
When someone sits there and tries to force everyone to like her (particularly through very lame accusations of racism if you don’t partake), it might actually be the most disrespectful thing you could do to her. It’s literally not what she wants, she actively strives against it. You’re only doing her a disservice to act like she can’t handle consequences of her own actions and decisions. Let her be the heel she wants to be. She doesn’t need or want some groveling minions out there concern trolling everyone

Yeah this is different. This is probably more like Kareem. The 4 years in college to develop, the top rookies really come in with impact.

The dead legs theory is so far looking correct. Clark's 3-point percentage was 27% in July, 37% in August, and 43% so far in September. When she's hitting 3s like that, she's an MVP candidate. Not just a really good rookie, but a flat-out superstar.

I would say rookie Magic. Let's compare their Per-36 numbers -
Magic
18/8/7, with a 60% TS and 3.9 TOs per game
Caitlin
19/6/8 with a 59% TS% and 5.5 TOs per game
Very similar, aside from Clark's 1.6 extra TOs. On the other hand, even after adjusting for the additional 8 minutes, the average game score during the 1980 NBA season was 10 points higher than the average game score during the 2024 WNBA season, so Caitlin's production is somewhat understated by this comparison. (As the TS% for both leagues were almost the same, no adjustment needed there.)

It's not that hard to understand. Reese has not been the diplomat Clark has on the mic, she has said and done things that have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Like cheering on Chennedy Carter's cheap shot against Clark, that's a visual that's hard to get out of your mind. There's the old "you can't see me" gesture she used against Clark in college, and rubbing LSU's win in her face. That's not the end of the world, but I wouldn't call it good sportsmanship. She's expressed annoyance that she hasn't gotten the kind of credit Clark has for the WNBA's increased attendance. None of this stuff really matters, but it shouldn't be surprised that some fans are not that fond of her, especially fans of Caitlin Clark.

Re: How is CC's rookie year going to go?
Angel strikes me as the classic case of the uber-athlete who outmuscles, outquicks, and outjumps everybody she faces, throughout her basketball career, until she reaches the professional level. Then things change and her shots get blocked. But unfortunately, she never developed craft along the way. I am not terribly optimistic ... it's one thing to hone and improve a skill once you get to the professional level. It's another to learn that skill from scratch.
That said, her rebounding is directly the opposite. Her athleticism is only the starting point. She is wonderfully astute on reading where the ball will go, boxing out, body positioning, etc. As rough as her finishing skills are, her rebounding skills are elite. As good as any player's, anywhere, any time.

Correct. She made a couple and got overexcited. She has gone from terrible at them to meh, which is an improvement, but she was acting today as if she's Jalen Brunson. She's not, at least not yet.
