he definitely needs to show more aggressiveness and versatility on offense to warrant a big salary boost

He's not entitled to a no-trade clause and it's extremely rare for a player to get one. You either have to be a GOAT contender (LeBron) or the lucky beneficiary of a uniquely terrible franchise (Beal) to get one in today's league. PG, like the other 99.9% of players in the league, is neither, so he didn't get one. Tough luck.
He's free to want things, but he can't expect much sympathy for not being given an extra reward he hasn't earned and that would screw the team over on top of the hundreds of millions of dollars he was already demanding.

I agree with you- I don't think the Clippers should have given him one because it is impairs their ability to alter the roster and he isn't good enough to warrant it, but I can see why he would leave if they wouldn't give it to him- why sign for less to stay home if they can just trade him anywhere?

Like I said when this all went down, everyone is doing what is in their best interests. The Clippers could not with a straight face tell PG, "we're not going to give you a NTC, but we pinky swear we won't trade you". They would be straight up lying, and then asking him to take less too, they are just saying, "please be altruistic", but that's not how sports work.
Most of us as fans primarily wanted him signed as a trade asset not as a guy to keep for the next few years.
Why would I be critical or mad at a guy for not signing up for a situation where he knew he was likely to be screwed? Unless we assume his agent doesn't do any homework and know the rumblings reality of how valued he is by the fans, and by extension, the team.
Clippers said, nope, we're not tying ourselves up to lack of flexibility and PG said, nope, I'm not trying myself up to lack of autonomy in where I go AND also taking less total money.
This is how negotiation works, everyone has their sticking point, no one wants a lose/lose, and for PG that would be a lose, lose. It's different taking less money when you're a beloved franchise lifer who the team wouldn't even dare move (Dirk, Duncan, etc). When you're just another good player and the rumors suggest that you are at the top of the chopping block if things don't immediately pan out as expected, it's a very different situation.
No one is crying that he's gone, so....

great analysis.
I was actually a fan of PG for most of the time he was here and he deserves a lot of credit for the 2021 run.
However, his frequent shortcomings in the playoffs and general attitude about it grew increasingly distasteful over time.
Now, he and his in-group feel the need to bad mouth an organization that treated him well overall- shameful.

Gotta be some moves made i would guess. Hes a gleaguer too.
I like his highlights
We need to make a trade for front court help, maybe he helps us decide to move on from a few names. Gotta be more creative now with the new salary cap. Expensive vet bench players are going to be less and less
