After an abysmal Summer League showing, the thought of Sarr learning the ropes from JP does not sound awesome.

What are expectations for him as a rookie or even as a franchise centerpiece?

Will Wizards regret not picking Sheppard? My bet would be yes. Should they be concerned that he practices with Pool, I think not, what else he suppose to do, at least these guys are working. This is such a weird year, I feel there is no hype for first two overall picks at all, whatsoever. And its not because they are international, here in Europe, does not feel like anyone cares for RIsasher or Sarr either. We will see how it goes, I just hope my boy Jonas plays well and is traded at the deadline, can't believe hes a Wizard, but he once dressed as WIzard in LKL all star game, so it was foreshadowed.

A bit ironic that a Hawks fan is the OP considering so many ATL fans were upset over them passing on Sarr.

With that said I believe Sheppard should've been the #1 pick. He should be a solid player from day 1 which is more than I can say about alot of the kids chosen lottery in the last draft.

As for the Wizards they are likely on a long rebuild path. They can afford to be patient with Sarr. They need to get him on a solid development path though.

Agreed.

I don't believe it's indicative of his long term ceiling. But considering he's been playing (semi) pro basketball for years, Sarr's lack of production and toughness during SL play is concerning.

Sarr was a project pick in a weak draft.

He could develop into a good player and he could bust but either way it's going to take a few years. Wiz fans will need to be patient...

The wizards should absolutely be concerned that Poole is going to be a vet "leader" on the team. He's really not the guy you want teaching the young guys habits and professionalism.

Should they be concerned with Sarr? Yeah, he's looked lost in summer league. He's obviously a project and maybe he'll look better surrounded by better players and system, but that's not **really** the plan in washington the next couple years. If you run him out with a bunch of young guys he's probably going to look pretty bad for a while at least.

In the meantime, no , they shouldn't be concerned that a rookie is practicing with some of the team vets. That's what is supposed to be happening this time of year. It's not like he's seeking out some sketchy role models. These are the ones the wizards are providing.

Honestly after the SL, all top pick projections should just go away from this guy. He is more of a late 1st round talent in my eyes, total project who might be an NBA player in 3-4 years.

If a guy looks good in SL, it doesn't mean anything. If a guy looks terrible and outmatched in SL, it's very alarming. My rule of thumb when it comes to SL and it works pretty well
