Fun (and amusing) fact: She is now the Indiana Fever franchise leader in double-doubles.

Sorry people, this was fake news. I wrote down what I heard from the broadcast, or at least thought what I heard, but realized after waking up this morning that it couldn't be right. Any good big on the Indy would pretty easily have more career double-doubles than Caitlin does. And Indy had Tamika Catchings!

The announcers couldn't have been talking only about points/assists double-doubles, because Clark broke the franchise record for that long ago. The previous franchise record was 3 for that feat, and Clark is now at 12.

So, I don't know what I heard.

Already? That is amazing (and humorous).

Okay, I thought you meant that she was already the all time franchise leader. She is just the single season franchise leader. That makes more sense. Still impressive, but not insane.

OK, instead of listening to somebody else, I will search my own statistics. I love playing this game with CC because the results are so absurd. Like, let's see how many games in WNBA history a player has averaged at least 20/5/8 -- that is, 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists. The answer is that it has been done 153 times in league history.

OK, who is the career leader? Yep, you guessed it, Ms. Clark. She has done it 11 times. (Second place is Sabrina Ionescu with 10.)

Great question.

I think she's in the top 5-10 for sure. I would make a case that she should get some MVP votes.

A'ja, Stewie, Phee are currently the 3 best players in the world in my opinion. After that, it's up for debate. CC has done enough to warrant being in the conversation on the next tier.

The fact that I keep seeing CC knock Sabrina out of the record books here and there makes me feel happy tbh because that tells me that Sabrina is pretty damn good

This kid is nuts. I honestly feel bad for people who aren't watching this all unfold. I wonder if this is how people felt watching Jordan in his first year?

Like we're watching something historical in terms of sports. And the crazy part is, i feel like, no, I KNOW for a fact that she's the torch bearer for an entire generation of monsters that are coming.

Yeah started off with 4 assists and 6 turnovers and ended up with 12 and 9 respectively so definitely better in the second half (8-3)

Also NBA players daughters are up next too.

Incoming Freshman:
Me'Arah O'Neal -Florida.
Izela Arenas - Louisville
Mackenly Randolph - Louisville

O'neal was ranked like 31st and the other two i think top 100

Interesting point! She has no nickname lol. I would think Nike would have pushed for something already, but they have nothing so far. No nickname for Sabrina either. How many WNBA players have legit nicknames?

Clark's assists have been getting the publicity, but her scoring has been no slouch either. Here is a list of the top 5 scoring rookie guards in WNBA history, along with their shooting efficiency. (I left off 1997 accomplishments because everybody was a rookie in 1997, so that's pretty much bogus, especially as both "rookies" were in their 30s.)

1) Seimone Augustus, 21.9 points, 54% TS
2) Cappie Poindexter, 19.5 points, 55% TS
3) Caitlin Clark, 19.2 points, 59% TS
4) Arike Ogunbowale, 19.1 points, 50% TS
5) Sabrina Ionescu, 18.3 points, 59% TS

So, depending upon how your prioritize efficiency versus volume, you could argue that Clark is the greatest rookie scoring guard in WNBA history, along with (of course) the player with the most assists.

To be fair, she also crushes the field in TOs per game, at 5.7 Second place is Sabrina (2nd place seems to be her role) at 4.3. That's a big difference!

Taurasi is White Mamba and Jewell Lloyd is Gold Mamba. Nneka used to get called "President". Chelsey Gray is Point Gawd. Kelsey Plum is Plum Dawg.

But yeah, nicknames aren't really a thing in the W. We seem to just call people by their first name or initials. EDD, BG,
I've noticed it's more common to use first names rather last names compared to the NBA.

A couple of random nicknames that I hear on broadcasts and see online: Brittney Sykes is "Slim" and Natasha Howard is "Flash."

And one from the past: Deanna "Tweety" Nolan.

These are might not be the most witty, but they're quality because they're not just initials or versions of the players' names, and they're actually used to refer to the players.

And of course Angel Reese has the "Barbie" thing going: Baltimore Barbie, Bayou Barbie, Chi Town Barbie...

But my favorite one is "KFC" for Kahleah Copper, which is used freely by broadcasters despite the fact that "F" is not her actual middle initial ;-).
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

Diana already gave her the nickname and usually one of the top dogs has most influence.

But if you want another nickname.

"Engine" because she is the motor and CC is the unit of engine size.

Alyssa Thomas is already "The Engine," I assume a reference to Thomas the Tank Engine.

Edit:
I've never noticed it on broadcasts, but reportedly they play engine revving noises over the PA at home games when she scores, or at least did in the past. Now I'll have to look for it to see if they still do it.

Here's her talking about how she got the nickname, but it's pretty vague.

I like Snow Leopard and QB1.
BBRef has it as Ponytail Pete which is also great.
