I just downloaded it yesterday, if you play mynba and you like to upload new expansion teams into your league. You might want to wait a month or so because the selection is LIMITED as of now

I get it for Xmas pretty much every year since like 09 lol

23 was very enjoyable, 24 was absolute dog sh*t, borderline unplayable

I don't care about the story mode or online content, I just like to play my league

I play sports games to build teams and run a squad. 2k hasnt done anything with their franchise/my league in what feels like a decade. I look around every year to see what people are saying about that mode and they say it continues to be ignored. So... im good.

The game is cheeks again. Cut and paste scam with a few new jump shots and meter. Same bugs, same deception, same scams, bugs and crashes. They're run by a bunch of crooks and thieves and liars. Don't support this evil game :banghead:

I get the game every year, its the only game I actually enjoy. I mainly play my career and I like it better than 24. I think it runs on 120hz because I notice how smooth it plays in certain areas.
I like you.

OT, but out of curiosity? Do we have any COD players (specifically Warzone) here?

This is the first year it launched and I didn’t know or care. They put no effort into previews and promotion anymore. It’s like madden, no competition so they don’t have to. Bought last year and while impressive, it’s just boring unless you’re an online fiend. To me, the future of sports games (and many things) is in AI. If they don’t care to put work into realistic thinking AI to play against and just add more flashy animations and online content it’s not worth buying for me. It’s made for kids now unfortunately.

I'm a 2k old head who played since dreamcast. My favorite 2k was 2k11 and I think 2k8-2k11 are the two best overall games in the series personally.

The last one I played was 2k17 and was the only one I purchased since 2k11.

Trust me when I tell you, this is THE BEST 2k game/basketball sim game I have ever played. It's unbelievable.

They completely went next gen. I feel like I'm watching an NBA game when I play. Every player is so unique to their real life self. Even guys like Chet Holmgren have their own block animations. I had some disgusting pin down blocks with him off the backboard and corralled them. SGA plays exactly like his real life self, ditto for any other star.

The AI on allstar and above properly attacks you with the correct players. Even when I faced the Nuggets, it was insanely aggressive with Westbrook going down court and often overlooked Jokic/Murray in order to get his own buckets which I found funny/realistic. The AI torched me with Curry in a play-in game where we went down to the wire shot for shot. If they see your star killing them they kill you with their star back and forth.

They used some sort of new tech that allows them to motion capture right out of game highlights instead of needing to bring in players live, and it shows. You can use almost any player in the game and they feel identical to their real life selves with their own animations/likeness/dribbling/shot animations/signature moves. I play offline season and it's extremely sim. I'm having an absolute blast playing it.

The controls are quite different now but intuitive with how the sticks work to support one another with left/right dribbles. You can shot hesitation and get out of the animation to keep dribbling. Everything is live now, you're no longer playing out a canned animation that you can't get out of.

Playing defense feels amazing now too. I was LOCKING down DeRozan with Dort and Fox was struggling to score on a combo of SGA/Caruso. You have to combo both bumping properly in the right times and fighting over screens and hedging, pick and roll play is extremely realistic because of how they've completely fixed collision and made it real/live. You have to turbo at the right time to catch up on a move and then get back into defensive stance.

I highly recommend purchasing this game if you're a fan of sim basketball and playing an actual season (I don't know how online is but from footage I watched it's pretty good, there is a really proper stamina system now so guys can't just turbo down court).

This guy is pretty good and shows a lot of the game and how the signature moves work, etc. If you're interested check him out, watching him convinced me to buy the game and I don't regret it personally as I didn't want to support 2k and their practices over the past several years.

Interesting. I’m still going to wait for it free on gamepass though. Not convinced AI is much different. Stars do play like stars that was great last year already (though Lebron was like 15 years younger playstyle) but the overall behaviour felt non adaptive and repetitive. You just spam the same pick and roll and they never stop it. Luka launched almost 20 three pointers and never adjusted while he kept bricking them. Players run to the corners on fast breaks rather then with you, etc.

There are a ton of things I missed like stamina management, it’s a lot more realistic now. You can’t just turbo down court all game, it plays at a real pace of turboing and controlling the tempo with bringing it up court slowly.

Your guys will be gassed if you always sprint, and if they have a fatigue icon it’s easier for your defender to get blown by because they’ll be slower laterally on defense and far less effective on offense, it’s great.

Additionally, there is a real tempo to shooting now. You can triple threat jab step to get yourself into a shot motion, bring it up court and do a little move to get into a mid range pull up, drive and kick it out and swing it around and they’ll be more likely to make the shot. Just like real life if you try to shoot without flow you’re less likely to hit it.

Lastly, there is legit contact now. You can bully mismatches. When I use doncic I attack bigs off the dribble and as soon as I get a small I attack them inside and they blitz me with doubles and I kick and swing. I was able to continuously score through contact on smaller players or they would just have pathetic hands up contests that did nothing.

They made height matter for the first time in 2k history. It actually makes a difference now who’s contesting against whom. The physics of the game are fantastic.

The court spacing is just way better, and you can call a lot of different plays and get great results because of the spacing and physics. You can legit do DHO now with bigs and shoot behind the big.

Disappointing as always. I only play MyNBA [I think the new(er) game modes are beyond stupid] and they clearly don't care about that brand of customer anymore - no meaningful upgrades - seems they're only interested in micro transactions and the like. What really bothers me is they don't even have the current roster completely filled out - Mogbo's player model is an embarrassment. Like what are you doing if you can't even get current players in the game properly (Bronny is, of course, photorealistic despite going 20+ spots after Mogbo). I also saw a user-created Chomche in 2k24 that was lightyears more realistic than the Chomche in 2k25. And the eras... like okay, nice to have but who cares ultimately. They've added a whack of players to the eras rosters... so we have a great Jelani McCoy now but Mogbo looks like Whoopi Goldberg - cool.

I also purchase 2K every year as it is pretty much the only game I play on my PS5. With life being so busy, it's always hard to find time to really bunker down and play any other game. That said, I exclusively play offline in MyGM or Quickplay so all the microtransactions are irrelevant to me and the Superstar computer difficulty is challenging enough to play against and there is always the option to flip over to Hall of Fame when you choose a stacked team or go up big. With the ability to just pause or pickup/resume whenever I wanted, it's really the convenience that helps elevate it over other games.

At the end of the day, it's also the only Basketball game out that is updated with the Rookies and even at a full price of $101 it's more than worth it for me. I had it pre-ordered and maybe played about 6hours and so far it's been a massive improvement over 2k24 which was simply hot garbage. The layup/dunking mechanics were completely revamped to allow for more control with your finishes and like everybody has stated the ball handling and dribbling packages look beautiful. Personally, I think the game feels a bit slow-motion but that could just be me adjusting from the previous year.

There is a lot of grumbling about microtransactions taking away from the enjoyment of the game, but there's plenty to do offline without having to shell out any more than the initial cost.

Same. I enjoyed the GM functions way more than the gameplay..

Every year I give in when they have those massive sales. I end up spending $40 to fiddle with the raps roster for an hour, play one quarter and then never touch it again.

This isn't only exclusive to Durant. The 'pro play' moves are for so many players, so they all have unique signatures, and you can combo/chain so many things out of it because you watch how the defender reacts to your move and you can counter with another move (like he does to Sabonis when he bites on a crossover into a shot fake and he crosses back left and steps back left and gets a ton of separation).

I have so many sick highlights already that I find myself saving clips all the time. Alleyoops are the same as well, there are a variety of finishes and contacts, but it's a skill check now - people can't just spam alley oop and get an instant finish. When you make the pass you have to both control the pass and the receiver, and you have to time holding down the finish on the receiver and if you don't time it right it's a misplay. The receivers actually react accordingly to who's under them or around them with real physics. I've had Lively throw down a nasty oop where Draymond fumbled trying to catch up, it all felt very organic - I clipped it here:

https://streamable.com/bp4dpd

What’s actually so cool is that if you watch Lively, the AI was setting up for me naturally by sending shooters spaced out, and then watch Lively’s feet, he tries to set an initial pick and when he sees Curry didn’t go through he moves his foot over and tries to re-set it, that is great attention to detail.

I see maybe 2-3-4 dunks a game max now - and they all look great and stand out because it doesn't happen frequently and stamina also plays a factor into a dunk finish, it's awesome. 2k was a complete arcade fest the last decade where there were a million dunks a game.

A lot of people aren't doing this game justice. It's really good.

I can't really put my finger on it but it "feels" better than 2K24. I only play offline games so I have no idea about the other modes.

You all should try out this game. It's one of the best sports games I've ever played. It's amazing to see how much this franchise has progressed.

Here are some reviews of the game for anyone interested in reading them.

lol I was torching the AI with Edwards yesterday, probably time to stop guarding me with Braun. For the record that's the most I've scored in this game, it's not easy to score a lot in higher difficulty, sometimes they shut down your stars.

Return to Toronto Raptors
