The Chicago White Sox are on pace to break the modern record for losses in a single season -- 120 by the 1962 New York Mets.
They\'ll have to win eight of their remaining 17 games in order to avoid breaking the Mets\' record.
White Sox general manager Chris Getz didn\'t expect the club to challenge for the dubious record, but was prepared for a losing season.
\"If you would have told me we would end up flirting with the record, I would have been a little surprised,\" he said. \"Now if you would have told me prior to the year we would have ended up with over 100 losses, 105/110, I would not have been as surprised. This is the cards we\'ve been dealt at this point. You try and make the best of it.\"
