2024-25 Training Camp and Preseason Thread

Post#1 » by whatisacenter » Tue Sep 10, 2024 12:21 am

With less than a month before the start of training camp and the Warriors first preseason game I thought we should have a thread to discuss all things related before the regular season tipps off!

Golden State will hold training camp at the George Q. Cannon Activities Center on the campus of BYU-Hawaii in the town of Laie, with practices from Oct. 1-4. Prior to leaving for Hawaii, the team will hold its annual Media Day on Monday, Sept. 30 at Chase Center in San Francisco. The team’s training camp roster and practice schedule will be announced at a later date.

The Warriors have already had a couple of big men (Bruno Caboclo and Davis Bertans) come and go after being invited to camp and Troy Brown Jr. has reportedly been in for a work out as well.

Current roster is listed as follows:

Draymond Green
Daeqwon Plowden (two way)
Jackson Rowe
De'Anthony Melton
Kyle Anderson
Buddy Hield
Reece Beekman (two way)
Lindy Waters III
Gui Santos
Jonathan Kuminga
Trayce Jackson-Davis
Brandin Podziemski
Andrew Wiggins
Kevon Looney
Gary Payton II
Moses Moody
Stephen Curry

I'm assuming Pat Spencer and Quinten Post will be competing for the last two way.

Post really needs to be able to carve out some minutes so we can have a more balanced offense unless Looney is finally going to shoot the ball.

I wanted a guy like Fultz in a trade for Poole...maybe could have snagged WCJ in the package too. But now with GP2 and Melton on the roster I don't see a need for him.

The roster balance seems to be out of whack for the second year in a row unless there is a trade before the season tips off. The lack of two-way players on the roster is astonishing.

In a G league trade, the Hawks’ G League club, the Skyhawks, acquired Daeqwon Plowden‘s returning (G league) rights from the Magic's G league team. They can't use them unless the Warriors waive Plowden, but it could be a sign that the Warriors plan for Post to take Plowdens 2-way contract.

Is a small non-shooter really what this team needs?

Never enough smallness.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Here's the full video. It's good to see Moody anywhere on a court tbh. Of course, there only going to show made buckets (although KD does miss one where MM is guarding him):

Was that Ryan Dunn that ran right around Moody to the bucket at the 1:05 mark?

It's stuff like that that makes me skeptical he'll ever be able to take the defensive assignments Klay did for so many years. It makes Moody decisively a SF. Klay was able to play SG, even though he was such a marginal ball-hanlder, because of his ability to guard ball-handling guards.

Warriors have interest in Jimmy Butler?

BTW, are preseason ticket prices more affordable?

I don't know about can't, but he may want something to sign before showing up and tearing a ligament or something. Camp opens in a couple of weeks and they still have 3 spots -- if they want him in camp they have to sign him to something. I don't know why they wouldn't give him at least a camp deal by now.
