****, that was unexpected. Whatever he's going through, I wish him the best in getting through it. And if he just doesn't want to play basketball anymore, that's totally cool.

Where are all the folks that were proposing to trade for this guy as a key piece if we were to move Siakam to the Hawks two years ago.

It's a shame that a kid who showed so much promise in his rookie season is now looking to close the door on his NBA journey. I know how it feels to have a passion, and to realize that stepping away from it may be the best option for yourself and your future. Regardless of any of the familial issues, he clearly has a lot going on mentally. Wish him luck with his decision.

I’m embarrassed! But damn he had potential

This the guy people hyped up as a centerpiece in a siakam trade?

But it looks like he quit to turn his full attention somewhere else

There was someone on here that thought Bufkin + Griffin was better than the haul we got for Siakam even after watching the seasons they had.

Yeah everyone is stupid for not correctly predicting a 21 year old looks to be quitting basketball. What a bunch of morons.

The guy has serious mental health issues, and I hope he gets the help he needs.

Actual help though. Not more religion, which is what has created this situation.

He appears to have faith in his beliefs. Who says he has mental health issues? He may just be making a choice to leave the money and lifestyle of the NBA to focus on what's important to him

Pretending they never said it to begin with. AJ Griffin is arguably the most overrated non raptor prospect around here in a long time. I legit never thought he was a good "blue chip prospect", at all—just another of the many short-shooting guards in the league.

I wish him well though.

Yeah. How could they not see this as the most likely outcome?

I hope it's not a decision he comes to regret in a few years.

This is why teams do extensive background checks before drafting a player. Would his current team get compensation ?
