LeBron James Believed To Prefer Retirement Tour Exit From NBA Over Offseason Announcement

When LeBron James is ready to step away from the game of basketball, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports he expects it to be announced before he plays his final games in the NBA. In recent years, all-time greats such as Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki announced their plans to retire well in advance, while Tim Duncan waited until shortly after his final season to make his announcement.

"I mean LeBron signed an extension this summer where he only has one year guaranteed, but I wouldn't start looking at like this is going to be the clock starting to tick down on his career where he would walk away from the Lakers and retire because they struggled throughout the season," said McMenamin. "He's going to be on his own timeline.

"And I think when it's the final march of LeBron, perhaps final March rather than Last Dance, we're all going to know. We're all going to know and it's going to be must see TV. It's going to be the LeBron tour coming to town throughout the 28 NBA cities culminating in a spectacular farewell.

"This isn't going to be one of those things where after the season he says, 'By the way, that was the last [season].' He is going to want to dance or march his way out of the NBA."

Its 2 years garunteed he has a player option so he can get the money if he wants it.. but its likely his plan was 3 years at least but when decline hits it may hit fast. His shooting last season was phenomenal so if that declines and he has to drive the basket more I dont think he necessarily can be a super star anymore.

In no sense is a narcissist a solid dude ir like model. LeBron is exactly the opposite of what I'd want my kids to be. Just cuz you can put a ball through a hoop doesn't make you a role model. There are plenty of other far less known people I admire. That number is roughly 8 billion.

LeBron will sell his country down the toilet for a few Yuans. He doesn't care about the people he hurts as long as it pads his wallet.

Honestly, he will be active in multiple business ventures, as well as likely being a managing partner of a team in Vegas. Anything he does will be news fodder for clicks. He will probably be a Mark Cuban style owner, too involved in day to day operations to allow for success. Building an expansion team (or team building in general) takes more patience than most people have. And no fan likes it when their team's owner is in the news more than the players. Vegas will also be a travesty of a location for the home team. All of those factors are going to keep Lebron in our news feed. Whether his narcissism is on display through all that is up to him.
