Turner is an ideal piece for Pelicans.

What player on the Pels would you want?

I could see a TM3 for Turner trade? Or a BI for Turner trade.

Why not both?
Murphy/Ingram for Turner/Toppin/Nesmith
Turner is the only 1 who will need to resigned in the offseason.
Pels are at $150 before resigning Turner ($145 if they drop Hawkins).
Murray/McCollum/Jones/Williamson/Turner

Keep in mind, Indy would shop Myles to avoid resigning him and going into the tax. How does swapping him for Ingram and Murphy help in that regard? Surely Ingram would sign for more than Turner and Murphy would sign for roughly what Nesmith/Toppin make, or more, no? This would make the situation worse?

Not sure what the tax will be next year, but with the trade Indy is at $145 next year.
Team options sit on Mathurin, Walker, Sheppard, Wiseman, and Brown. Having a direct talk with Ingram about his value around the league may have him realize he is not a max player. He could simply be allowed to walk, S&T, or resigned at a reasonable number.
As for Murphy, what is he worth? If it is $20m, Indy is cost controlled through 2 years at about the same cost (near $180). I do not know what Indy's threshold is as far as the tax is concerned, but if they are winning and close to the top of the league, they have to take the shot.

Indy's at $170m with the tax line projected just under $188m (if it rises the full 10% allowed).

Your trade proposed would allow Indiana around $43m under the tax line to re-sign Ingram and Murphy. I would imagine it would take essentially all of that just to re-sign Ingram. Teams may not be willing to trade the value necessary to acquire Ingram AND then have to max him to keep him, but I'm sure someone would be willing to sign him in unrestricted free agency for $40m. His full max would be about $46m. So then, is it going to cost $30m to keep Murphy? How much less? So now, Indy, while not having paid the luxury tax since the Reggie Miller retirement year, is not only going to pay the tax, but shoot well past the 2nd apron? And if they're still not willing to go that deep into the tax, now they're dealing a VERY valuable wing defender in Nesmith, and a useful big man scorer in Toppin along with Myles Turner just to keep one of Murphy or Ingram, and let the other walk (or sign and trade) for essentially nothing?

This is why I'm pretty sure Indy would require something centered around Myles for Herb. There's a cost control there. Indy would still keep a great defender on the court (where the larger deal you propose would have Indy dealing their 2 best defenders in Myles/Nesmith for just Murphy). I just doubt that NO will let Herb go.

What if Pelicans are ready to move on and the Nets take a chance at buying low (but make sure to preserve the tank)?

DFS + Bojan + Sharpe
for
Ingram + 2 min. salary players (JRE/Theis/Alvarado/Matkovic)

*Nets waive Keon Johnson to stay under the tax.

Pels somewhat accept sunk cost on BI and get under the tax. They break up Ingram's deal into more easily tradeable salary guys for some potential deadline moves. DFS can be a great depth contributor, Sharpe gets the spot starter minutes, Bojan brings a vet shooter for depth and re-tradeable expiring contract.

Nets take a buy low opportunity on Ingram, while giving up minimal assets. They agree to load manage him, Cam Johnson and Claxton throughout the season, leaving options open to re-trade him at the deadline, re-sign him this summer, sign-n-trade him, or let his contract expire, clearing ultimate cap space.
