Lakers dont have roster spots, no? So this is a 2-way? Guessing Raps werent willing to give him guaranteed money

I know that we would have never known this, but it makes that Thaddeus Young trade look worse in hindsight. We essentially got nothing tangible from that trade to help our future.

I think it's a 2 way deal and they're gonna waive one of their 2 way guys. Raps probably unwilling to cut one of the 2 way guys.

The Raptors could have offered Koloko a better contract than LA and yet they did not. Presumably the Raptors did not value Koloko as someone who could offer sufficiently more upside than the players currently on the roster to justify a contract that was more than what LA offered. At what point in Koloko's tenure would the Raptors have diminished their outlook for Koloko--before or after his illness?

I think they want the flexibility for future trade/s this season.

Raptors offseason:
Lost - Trent, Koloko and the 8th pick overall in a bad draft
Added - Davion + 5 rookies in a bad draft

Is this team going forward or backwards? Lol

Well that Thad trade completely bombed.

Koloko is a sellout after all the support the franchise tried to show him. He doesn’t even realize the bag he likely fumbled if he had just let Masai develop and then overpay him lol

All good though, Chomche is gonna swat his weak post moves into the 10th row.

Good for him to make it back into the league. Would have been good for him to come back as a Raptor because he was showing some glimpses of defensive prowess when healthy.

If Lakers got him for just a 2-way spot, that's interesting because we likely had a weak offer. We had a roster spot, but didn't want to give it to him. He's probably still far from looking good. Nonetheless, hopefully he stays healthy and get back on track.

Even without hindsight, trading a FRP for a 33 year-old Thaddeus Young and a SRP was a bad deal. This is just salt on the wound at this point.

I guess masai refused to give him the player option he gives every body.

This is new reality of this front office. Getting pretty tired of it quite frankly. I'm about ready for change.

Are the media going to overhype this signing like they did with Christian wood? They were talking about Wood helping them win a championship when they signed him

Guys, the Lakers only offered him a two-way contract. Unless he was just really determined to be a Laker, it’s likely the Raptors weren’t willing to give him anything substantial. Raps don’t seem that interested. Best of luck to him.

We released him, but made sure his contract was paid out in full. I'm sure we gave him some much needed contacts instead of leaving him high and dry.

Not gonna lie. Feeling a bit spurned here.

we didn't really have any roster spots. all of our 2 way contract players are more deserving than koloko and i have no interest in giving that 15th roster spot to him.
lets just wish him well and move on.
