I'll give this an incomplete for now.

Honestly at this point I thought he was just going to take the QO. Surprised the Cavs were willing to give him this much with the apparent lack of teams willing to give him an offer sheet or do a S/T.

Yes. $2-4m, depending on incentives and structure?

Right call for both. I think it is a market contract for what he does, and he's not messing around with the possibility of an injury and having his QO be his last earnings.

It's a good deal for both parties. The Cavs have plenty of time and ways to work out the tax implications, including just paying it.

Nearly as much per year as LeBron James' first veteran deal. Inflation is wild.

Seems like a bad deal for him. I think full MLE would have been there.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Good move for Cavs if Okoro can continue to improve that corner three.

I think he could have gotten abit more but get that first bag locked up first.
That’s smart on his part.

Never had good impact stats. I think he looks better than he is. $13m per season seems about right.

Cleveland is really the best-case scenario for him. Doesn't need to do anything resembling offense-creation. Weak wing depth so guaranteed minutes.
If he ends up on another team he could easily look worse. Either being forced to do more than he effectively can on offense and/or beaten out for minutes by better wing players.

Pretty sure the money is exactly the QO. The Cavs will be in 2nd apron territory in years 2 and 3 and so that money might be a lot financially but it's trivial in terms of team-building. It expires right as the Cavs are finishing their 2-year window above the 2nd apron.

Guaranteed portion is similar to DJJ money, who is a worse shooter, but better fast break/cutter/roll man, I think this is a good contract for his current production, great of he improves, bad if he regresses.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Is this lower than the MLE?
MLE can only be two years. I think 2/26.4 would be the max. Seem like this is right at that but a third year.

Seems a fair deal. Win win for team and player IMO.

The tax MLE can only be 2 years. The full MLE can be 4.
