Yeah if we just ignore previous statements he's made, and his past performance sure. Here's a crazy thought, it might just be more than one thing. I know, I know, it's a radical thought, that a human could possibly be more complex, than to have their entire life and personality dictated by one thing.

I'm sure you'll come around eventually.

It is impossible to quantify why he's done what he's done based on what he is going through. Given we can't do that, why would you make assumptions?

Not trying to armchair mod here but the fact you’re starting arguments here is absolutely disgusting.

It was public knowledge that the reason why Wiggins took so much time off over "personal matter" over past couple of years was because he was back in Toronto to be with his sick dad which I never understood why he got such much hate for skipping the World Cup and then the Olympics. It's now good that he did get to spend the entire summer by his dad.

So was not playing in the Olympics and proclaiming that he wanted to but couldn't, reportedly due to warriors managements, really the FO helping him with optics as a result of what was going on with his dad? I think most would have understood.

My thoughts were, I knew his dad was very sick for multiple years now so bad that Andrew had to miss significant amount of games in the 2022-23 season to be with him. Maybe he wanted to play this summer because his condition was relatively more stable who knows but he ended up not playing for whatever reason so I just said it was a blessing that he didn't play. Anyone that's dealt with deaths of close family, even a grandparent understands this. I never said anything bad about those that hated on Andrew, I just said I never understood. It's just basketball man.

RIP. Very low of Shams to put Wiggins’ business out there in 2023. He shouldn’t break stories on family members unless the info is in the public domain.

I'm not starting arguments, I made a point about not assuming negative things about people you don't know personally, but clutch all the pearls you need to.

Public knowledge? I never heard or read that anywhere, certainly not on here. Had people known that he was taking time off from the Warriors or not committing to the Olympic team because his dad was sick then they would have been a lot more understanding.

Ya there were always random rumours of something going on but no one had any concrete details on this.

Not right for fans to judge anyway. Personal means just that nobody else's business.

I think Shams put it out there because there were crazy allegations that he wasn't playing because he found out his child wasn't his or his wife cheating. Just saying I don't think there's any harm to what Shams said.

RIP Mitchell Wiggins.
and good to Andrew Wiggins for doing the right thing and being by his father's side when he needed him most. Doesn't matter what we thought.... matters what he and his family thinks.

Could’ve just said a family member is ill. Shams put the details out there to take credit for breaking the story

No, he's not saying that. He is suggesting if people did know then they would be more understanding. Implicit in that statement is the not knowing leads to not being as understanding and I'm saying it doesn't have to be that way if you simply have your head on straight.

You make it sound like always assuming the best is the most rational approach, I disagree. Wiggins has publicly stated he doesn't love the game, and it's been clear for years he just wants to make a pay day. So based on that, it's a safe assumption that his performance is related to that, and not some unknown personal thing.

I am more than willing to assume the best with people I know personally, not some random athlete with red flags.

When did he say this? Isn't this some **** KG said about Wiggins? I don't think Wiggins ever came out and said he doesn't love basketball. I hope you can provide the link to back up your assertion.

Nah you're right, I misremembered it was KG. But his follow up answer doesn't exactly argue it too much tbh.

"I can't really tell someone the order to love something in," Wiggins says, in response. "I love basketball, sure, but it's temporary. I can only play basketball for so long."

RIP to Mitch, a pretty good player on the 86 Rockets who went to the Finals. Unfortunately his career was interrupted and shortened by cocaine use and drug suspensions, which was kind of common in the 80s. Not sure how much cocaine use earlier in his life had to do with dying young at 64. It's impressive that he met his wife in college and was with her all these years, and raised three sons and three daughters along the way.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Smart ass comment of the day:

This just in:

Andrew wiggins to miss training camp and spend the first 20 games on medical sabbatical before he sucks for 40 games and returns to form for the last 20 games!

Extra extra, read all about it!
