I don’t know if it works out but I like this move for both sides much more than the QO. It’s not that bad of a deal if he doesn’t pan out, but there’s upside room in there for the team.

For Okoro that’s life changing money. Caps his downside. And still hits the market again very young if he outplays it.

Is this lower than the MLE?
MLE can only be two years. I think 2/26.4 would be the max. Seem like this is right at that but a third year.

The tax MLE can only be 2 years. The full MLE can be 4.

Ah. Thanks for clarifying.

It's not all that life-changing. He's made almost $20m already from his rookie contract since he was such an early pick. He could've taken the QO, never gotten another contract, and still have made generational wealth. That's why he could afford to wait so long.

But a new coach has the chance to unlock a little more in his game than he's showed so far, whether his teammates have let him do it thus far or not.

Agree with this take. For this stage of the off-season, it's as close to a win-win as you're going to get.

Okoro locks in 2x his career earnings over the life of this contract and will hit FA again when he's 26 if he outplays this deal. Cleveland gets him back on a deal with upside potential for them if his offensive game improves.

Should just say Isaac still has a lot of money, his career, and all the relationships he's built with the Cavs on the line. Hopefully he's managed his money wisely, but not everyone does.
