GL Fade!
Defense:
Straight up for man to man. Rondo on Parker, Harden on Eddie, Luka on Howard, Pierce on Odom, KG on Duncan.
KG sets the tone. He is our anchor. Rondo is the POA defender and should do nicely here against Parker. Everyone else just stay in front of their man. He doesn't have any real killers on offense other than Duncan (guarded by KG and Dwight).
Offense:
Rondo is going to cook, picking his poison. Alot of scorers are his will. KG, Pierce, Harden and Luka can all eat, especially against a team like this. Duncan cannot cheat off KG and guard the lane, so it will literally be pick your poison here. Scorer everywhere. Deep team. Rondo finds everyone. Would be fun as hell to watch.
Over, Fade a simple team that would mess well, but other than Duncan no real killers. I feel as if I have 4 guys who could take a series over at any point. Our depth is incredible too with Artest and Dwight off the bench.

Re: Expanding Era Draft R1 - MadNESS vs. Fadeaway_J
Starters
C - Tim Duncan (2002-03)
PF - Lamar Odom (2009-10)
SF - Josh Howard (2006-07)
SG - Eddie Jones (1997-98)
PG - Tony Parker (2012-13)
Bench
F - Boris Diaw (2012-13)
F/G - Anthony Parker (2009-10)
G - Patty Mills (2013-14)
Rotations
C - Duncan (38), Diaw (10)
PF - Odom (34), Diaw (10), Howard (4)
SF - Howard (32), A. Parker (16)
SG - Jones (36), A. Parker (6), Mills (6)
PG - T. Parker (36), Mills (12)
FGA Per Player
Our first plan of attack is to run off makes and misses. Parker is a monster in transition, and he's flanked by two athletic wings in Jones and Howard, as well as Odom who can function as both a creator and finisher on the break. Even Duncan is athletic enough to beat his man down the floor, although the Spurs didn't use that approach much in his prime. In the halfcourt, we have a good mix of the early-2000s inside-out approach and the Beautiful Game Spurs of the mid-2010s. We can play through peak Duncan in the post, where he can score himself or kick out to guys like Jones, Howard, Mills, and Parker. We also have plenty of intelligent passers (Duncan, Parker, Odom, Diaw), active off-ball players (Jones, Howard, Odom), and the penetration of Parker and Mills to start the ball-movement churn.
Defensively, Duncan is a GOAT-level anchor, Odom and Diaw provide versatility and smarts at the 4, Jones is a shark on the perimeter, and Howard/Parker are solid secondary wing stoppers.
Matchup
- Initial defensive assignments will be straight up. Harden to me is Ness's best perimeter creator, so having Jones to get in his face is a major plus.
- The combination of Rondo, Harden, and Luka is far from complementary. None of them is a very good or willing off-ball player, and the only reliable shooter is Harden who for me should be the one with the ball in his hands the most. Rondo in particular is just redundant on this team, and we will happily leave him wide open when he's off the ball.
- Odom is our trump card as he can match up with both the smallball and regular-sized lineups. He also gives us a major advantage on the boards whenever Pierce or Artest is playing the 4.
- Harden and Luka are notoriously slow to get back in transition, which plays nicely into the hands of our potent transition attack.
Good luck Ness.

Ness starts 3 dominant ball handlers, plus a secondary ball handler in Pierce. I'd assume everybody is taking turns on offense. The presence of an elite roll man in KG helps a lot, but I just can't see this working out in the long run. I could buy Ness' premise if all his creators could partially play off the ball. Rondo is close to useless off the ball due to his limited shooting ability. Even when he runs the offense, it's fairly easy to slow him down by going under the pick and daring him to shoot. What's the point in using Luka/Harden away from the ball? You don't take advantage of their shot creation anymore, while they're still getting exposed on defense. Not to mention, LA Dwight would be demanding touches as well. Fade has a significant talent deficit, but his team feels more balanced with clear roles for all his players.

Re: Expanding Era Draft R1 - MadNESS vs. Fadeaway_J
Wasn't sure about this one (as usual for me). I'm a little down on Fade's perimeter, but I could see it being one of those Spursian greater than the sum of their parts deal in the right scenario. Ness's team I feel I would've liked, or at least understood, better with someone else instead of rookie Luka. He was a net negative player at this point (no shame for a 19 year old) and I don't really get what he does in this offense. I feel like he was taken just to spend the fga.
So let's say overall I feel like Duncan figures things out just enough here. Vote Fade.

I think I agree with the others. Pretty even match with Madness having talent advantage but I like the fit alot more on Fade's team and he has the best player

I literally could give 2 craps when I lose, but I have a better version of the championship Celtics (Rondo, Pierce and KG) with Harden & Luka instead of Allen and useless Perkins. Also a way better bench of Artest and Dwight. Obviously the fit ain’t perfect, but yall act like Rondo is trash lol. At some point talent overrides fit. I get it though.

For me personally, I value the drafting process the most. After that we are at the mercy of subjective views of a small group of people. There are also some sensitive members which I believe are more likely to harbor personal feelings which influence their vote against the reality of the situation.
If we wanted to be serious about determining which team was actually best, I think we could think of better options including but not limited to video game simulations or monte carlo simulations with quantitative inputs. But with no money on the line, and no one presenting this information to scientists or the sake of further analysis, I think its safe to say this is all for personal enjoyment only.
I don't put any stock in the winners of these things. I didn't get a chance to vote on this one and thought you would have been an obvious favorite. c'est la vie

I think in this comparison, having Allen instead of Harden/Luka is crucial. He's the best off ball player of the bunch. That said, a lineup of Rondo Harden Pierce Garnett Howard would've made much more sense, with a bench that is synergistic with this core. Sometimes less is more.

Rondo, OKC Harden and rookie Doncic is not even overwhelming talent wise so when added to the worst possible fit it's a tough sell. I think you'd have had a better chance starting Dwight beside KG/Pierce.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Honestly if you look at the list of people who have won the most of these it’s pretty much just a list of people who play the most.
It’s a crapshoot.
