He should get a much better whistle playing for the Lakers and alongside Lebron.

I'm sad he didn't return with us, but happy for him. I think he's still got a chance to carve out a solid role in the NBA.

This was botched by Masai. End of story. Everyone inside themselves knows it to be true.

Some people take out their frustration on Masai,,, others on posters who point it out.

I got this instantly lol. PS I'm old.

The YouTube raptor guys are torching Masai over this. It really is bizarre we gave this guy up for some jabroni's. I think a lot of Masai's moves are questionable. Hell sacrificing what he did for agbaji is extremely strange and probably not a move any other GM would make.

Does Lebron have a history of developing young players? Playing with Michael Jordan didn't help a whole slew of young guys develop.

The way it could hurt his development is to plug him into a role that a team with a Lebron James (ie: title aspirations) requires and keep him there. Not getting offensive reps for a guy who has no offensive game isn't going to help his development. Basically he's going to do what he already does well and might not grow beyond that. Just as an example, we very famously had Pascal chucking a 3 or two per game 2017/18 and early in the championship year and he is no longer a complete disaster shooting 3's. There's a development balance to be found between "do whatever you want" and "only do these very specific things". Another way it might hurt is just not getting minutes on a team that cares a whole lot about winning, vs, say, this year's Raptors.

That's the point. He needs to prove himself. The offence was always suspect. He needs to bring the defence and intangibles. Who better than LBJ?

The signs point to Masai being out of here in 2 years when Larry T gets bought out. It would also be the 5 year mark of his contract which is typically the length. I’m looking forward to it tbh.

The moves he made were logical in terms of the Thad and Koloko, OG, and Siakam trade. We didn't offer Koloko a roster spot either.

Koloko won't be a good player for at least the next two years. He's going to be the same as his rookie season best case scenario with a chance of reoccurring health problems. In comparison Fernando is 26, which is 2 years older than Koloko, and he could probably produce for us immediately in a rotation role.

Then ultimately we have Chomche who we dropped money for to buy as a prospect. He has a higher ceiling than Koloko and at the same age could be a core piece on our team.

There hasn't been any firable offenses from Ujiri he still ranks in the top ten in the league. There isn't another GM who had as much pitted against him. He built a contender in the cold foreign north where no one wanted to play.

Not long ago I think Masai had a dream of fielding a Raptors team of, not all African players but quite a few. There was an interview during the Nelson Mandela event in Koloko's rookie year where Masai said something about he looked on the court and saw Koloko playing with Pascal, OG and Precious and how great it made him feel. Now they're all gone, the African dream is dead, and the cold hard reality of the business of the NBA has trumped any dreams of loyalty.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

The guy was a bum lol. I hate the idea of losing any prospect, especially when we traded a FRP for him, but it's not the end of the world. He's not even young anymore.

He worked out for 4 teams this off-season, including the raptors, yet the best contract he could field was a 2 way from the Lakers. Masai got a good look at him and felt that he isn't worth a full contract, I'll judge his and the other GM's assessment over the posters here.

The people being critical don't even care about Koloko as they've shat on him for years.

It's really about trying to find some other way to **** on Masai.

Because they like to **** on things.

Framing this as the Raps losing out is a little odd, when the only realistic way to describe it is them walking away from the guy. Which from a distance is a decision I don't like, given how effective he was in his rookie year, but that is definitely only from a distance.

Raps decided he wasn't what they wanted to invest in. I don't like it, but it's hardly Masai getting beat out for a guy by another team.

I think the way to read this is that they already have their C development project in Chomche and like Fernando as their stop gap backup if Kelly or Jak get injured.

If Koloko can't knock Fernando out of his spot right now, I'm good with that. His family is also out in LA. If the kid wants to be close to family after dealing with health issues, so be it.

At this point we can only hope Bobby is done making lopsided trades with the SA front office. They have his number.

Isn't this contradictory? They would have **** on Koloko for years, but now that the team has "lost" the player they **** on for years, the FO messed up?

Wouldn't it make more sense to say the people that were thinking he was a great prospect and we lost him, are **** on the FO for losing him?
