Also, "when he's on" is kind of important, yeah? Especially when he pretty regularly misses 20 games a season. But even fully healthy this is a rich deal. I agree with Miltown that top 30-50 players all getting max contracts because the team can't afford not to is an issue. I don't have the fix, but it's a weird spot we're in.
All valid points but I’m not against these guys getting paid. Front offices at the end of the day have the choice to retain the player. Murray deserves it. He’s been such an integral part of delivering that first title.
Some "choice," though, right? Do you screw your team now by letting an obviously talented player walk, or screw it later when his injuries escalate or you wind up in cap hell with a guy no one wants to trade for because he makes too much?
That's not about Murray, mind you. You could say that about a bunch of guys. This is where Bradley Beal contracts come from.
