Arsenal did enough to generate chances though, mostly on counters it seems.

So without Odegaard, they will play back more or just at the Spurs they were trying to pick their spots?

It's just how the game pans out sometimes. Spurs are a team that likes to play with the ball, and Arsenal are good both with and without it. My guess is Arteta will have instructed his players to be patient and wait for their chances, because Spurs concede very predictable goals from set pieces and counters.

Yeah I think this is a fair assessment. Also think Arteta's hand was forced, that midfield was the type who gets overrun or bypassed, so good to rely on a solid defense and be patient.

I think with Rice back we will move up the pitch a bit more but with Partey and Jorginho we just couldn't commit too much. They absolutely can not cover ground. They run back with like ankle weights on

100%. I really hope with Rice back we pair him with Jorginho. Jorgi will look better once he shakes some rust. Never going to be super mobile but he is smart and reads space well. Partey is just a shell of his oldself, puts us in trouble so often.

At some point they're going to need to be more incisive in front of goal. Werner and Johnson aren't prolific players, and goal scoring wingers should have been addressed in the transfer window, and sadly Son is declining. On the coaching side, we simply need to get better at defending set pieces and managing games. It's a work in progress, but a slow start.

Heard the stat the Spurs have only kept 4 clean sheets in the last 37 matches.

I said after last season we'll see if Ange changes things. Obviously, it's still early, but it's not looking good.

It's unraveling quickly for Postecoglou, looking just as inflexible and stubborn as Conte now. Absolutely abysmal performance in the cup against Coventry, the worst of his reign so far.

What's you thoughts on the Johnson signing. No doubt he's a good player, but for the fee paid, you really needed a prolific goal scorer. I'm sure that thought he may develop into that, as he's young, but not looking great as yet.

I'm still a massive believer in Ange as a manager, but it's been a rough start to the season (points wise).

It's not that I was cheering for them, it was just such a bad performance that it didn't deserve a victory.

I don't have any issues with Johnson. Spurs fans have got themselves worked up over him for no reason, heaping dog's abuse at him like we're Real Madrid, which is absolutely pitiful. While he is frustrating at times, to me, he's offered more than a lot of other expensive players that have escaped criticism.

Absolutely agree about the fans piling onto players...just don't understand the point. The players need support from fans, through thick and thin. You can be frustrated and dislike a player, but once they step on the pitch in your teams colours, give them all your support. AND don't go at them on social media

wow, watching Spurs- Brentford, Vicario comes out of the box and clearly handles ball ( twice!) outside the box, should be at least yellow card and free kick for Brentford, ref ignores it and books Ajer and Frank for complaining. VAR is silent. WTF.

I take back my comment about VAR, they can't get involved in yellow card offenses. This was 100% on blind ref.

Jackson for Chelsea has 21 goals in 50 matches.

Chelsea tied for league lead in goals scored.

Finally a solid win for Spurs. Good performance, still slightly wasteful and with some frailties, but a better performance against a tricky Brentford side.

i'll gladly take a draw tmmrw. Get villa , spurs , and City away done with and be just 2 points behind City? We can look good attacking wise again starting next weekend.

Hope we start Calafiori so we can get a natural left footer on the left side.

Vicario should've been sent off. Denied a clear goalscoring opportunity by handling the ball outside of the box.
Lisandro Martinez should've been sent off for his insane challenge. Jumped with both feet of the ground.

How can this level of refereeing go on?

I get what I want. Calfiori on the left and Timber on the right much better for 1v1s against Doku.

Now we pray....Partey dont make us look bad with some sloppy passing. We really shoulda got rid of him a while ago

Both sides score a goal each within the first 20-25 minutes.

Ooh Pep didn't like conceding that goal, took it out on a chair.

Yeah that left footer hit a nice goal.

Partey bumped into Rodri, took him out of the match.
