NY Trades: Mitch, Deuce, Sims, DET 1st, WAS 1st, future 2nd, cash
DET Trades: Stewart, Duren
Who says no? We solve our big man rotation without giving up more than necessary.

Why exactly would they trade them both.

rather wait for someone else - but mitch is dead. i don't have much hope in him contributing to the team going forward. respect the hell outta him for helping us win a couple series. he was key in the Cavs one. but the injuries are stacking up and this one being lower leg is real concerning. so if we can move him for an average C i'm game. under no circumstance can we head into the playoffs with our current rotation of precious and sims.
You finally joined the right side of history.
I fck with mitch and respect what he has done. But an overweight big with lower leg injuries can't be relied on. They can't squander this window on his poor health. They have to get an nba C on the roster. They have no one they can rely on. This is ridiculous.

At this point, the front office has to operate as if Mitch will not be available for most of the year.
Leon is gonna have to obtain a starting quality center, or at least someone decent enough to platoon with the bigs who are here now.
No, not happening. Sims will play and develop and plus his teammates will not let him sit on a hill by himself. OG, Mikal and Brunson will give him leadership.
Mitch will come back for the 2nd half run and into the playoffs. Not a bad 2nd half addition.
I will be honest, I need to see something from Sims this year. He's 25 and I don't know what to make of him on either end. Can he rebound and defend at a high level?
no

Their scouts could like Mitch & Deuce as better long-term fits with their planned roster and they get some draft capital which rebuilding teams always covet highly. Alternatively, Duren's agent could ask out of DET.

Well then
I think that adding another big is imperative.
There's nothing wrong with platooning at any position. There's no such thing as a perfect team.
But someone has gotta be able to hold down the defensive glass. Offensive rebounds are a luxury. You have to be able to clear the glass on a missed shot.

Re: Mitch not expected to be ready until December/January per Begley…
Knicks can’t even trade Precious until end of October right. So I doubt a trade happens until then. Additionally, it makes sense to give Sims burn there in case he can hold the fort down or increase his value.
Yeah none of us believe he can but crazier things have happened.
Also you never know, some half way decent Center might get cut from a team heading into training camp. If they are looking at Mitch as a Bynum/Tyson Chandler type defensive center (aka a key part of a championship team when healthy). Not doing anything drastic should be the plan.

He is clueless on defense and a really poor rebounder. He shouldn't be getting mins on a contending team. And tbh, he hasn't shown any skills that warrant a roster spot. He is athletic as hell but that's it.

don’t listen to guan0, sims is one of the best defensive prospects and protects the rim better than anyone on this team. really nasty person guan0 hating on our amazing youth.

Sims can't play. Your son is gone first adequate C that's available.
Just about every backup C in the league sucks. Just need to embrace small ball. Sims is ok to eat some min off the bench

Can I interest you in a serviceable 3x NBA champion center who is still a free agent and who was always Michell Robinsons ceiling as an nba player(although at looks as if he will never reach it)

It's time to move Mitch AND Randle.
For all the talent Mitch has, he's frequently injured and can't stay on the court. That's a liability.
As for Randle, there are very few teams who would want him. We need to get out of that contract sooner than later.

Re: Mitch not expected to be ready until December/January per Begley…
welp, we missed the timing on trading mitch. i dont think his value around GMs in the league is as high as in our board
incredibly talented on D and on the offensive glass, but mitch is not a starting center. even if healthy hes a 20-25 minute guy. we need to upgrade

At this point, James Edwards, the ex NBA player, would be more helpful to the Knicks than articles by James Edwards, the basketball writer.
How many $ to get the first James Edwards out of retirement? He's probably only marginally older than Taj, and much more ready to play than Mitch.
