Re: Trades and Transactions Thread Cont'd - Where the Center At?
If we were able to retain IHart, Mitch would have come off the bench. I think that’s how we have to look at him and count on him from now on just to protect him from injury.
Next big trade has to be for a starting center using our depth. Doesn’t have to be the best center in the world, but someone who will compliment the starters.
OG, Nova Knicks, Randle (for now) aren’t going anywhere.
Deuce is our most valuable asset that plays a position we have covered. He is the one most likely to be moved, Kessler maybe? But we can’t count on Mitch as a starter anymore, just setting ourselves up for disappointment.

So you prefer Giannisthe East is pretty good…
Bucks are getting older... aren't that deep... and Doc is their coach. I'll take my chances with them over a healthy Philly/BOS

I don't even think they have fixed their defense yet.

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread Cont'd - Where the Center At?
Jericho has been putting in the work this off-season, working with Mark Bryant and Mike Bibby. He may not be as good as Mitch on defense and the offensive boards but he is very good at both, and he does things Mitch can’t do, better on offense and he can guard anyone, 1 thru 5, he’s an athletic freak.
Have a feeling Thibs is giving him the first shot and he may have a Hartenstein-like jump.
My wishful thinking but it is possible.

The chances of a healthy Philly team are about as likely as Mitch being healthy for the entire season. People need to dial it back with this Philly talk.

Yeah, Deuce is the likely trade fodder. Honestly, before I-No-Heart bolted, I was saying 20 or so minutes a game for Mitch will prolong his career. Him off the bench is the perfect situation for him. I feel for the dude, but it's exhausting to be supportive.

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread Cont'd - Where the Center At?
Updated: Would I trade for Ayton who I would have at somewhat reasonable dollars for 4 years and lock in my team vs potentially 1 year of Randle?
Its an interesting conundrum but I probably would.
Ayton, Achiwa, Morris
OG, Achiwa, Hart, Morris, Diop
Bridges,Hart, Diop. Okeke
DDV, Hart, Payne
Brunson, Payne, Schamet
When Mitch returns:
Ayton, Robinson, Morris
OG, Achiwa, Hart, Morris, Diop
Bridges,Hart, Diop. Okeke
DDV, Hart, Payne
Brunson, Payne, Schamet
At PF without Randle : OG becomes your main guy and then you have a bunch of vets that could play behind him depending on who rises to the occasion or matchups.
Your starting 5 has no real ball dominant player except for Brunson. We have really added a ton of forward/wing depth. And have no real C. It does kinda feel like a Center trade is coming. I don't buy this Thibs wants to play small ball stuff. It seems so against the foundational structure of his preferred system. Maybe he does really mean it and is willing to do it but Ayton would definitely provide better rim protection vs Randle (which is huge in Thibs system) and every big we have had here seems to become better defensively in our system under Thibs.

119 pages and still no legit center on the team. Good times.
These pages will reach Donovan Mitchell trade proportions and there still won't be a legit center on the team.

Solves our center position problem for a couple of seasons but at a high cost... I suppose if Mikal and Randle extend on reasonable deals, this could be worthwhile...

I have never been the biggest Randle fan and he certainly can be a frustrating player that also hasn't proved himself to be effective in the playoffs, but its absolute craziness to think the Knicks would trade Randle for Ayton. Ayton's work ethic and desire has been questioned. He would not survive in NY or Thibs coaching.
Randle is still a two time all-nba guy and we know the type of production we get from in in the regular season. Swapping Randle for Ayton would be a disaster.

I don’t think we’ll ever get to Donovan Mitchell levels again. We was beefing with a whole other forum

They might just as well be healthy. Kawhi Leonard is a two-time champion. Plus, you could say the same about not only Mitch but OG. And we’re still hyped. So I’m still wary.

We are much deeper and Mitch plus OG don't make up 2/3 of our cap. They also aren't the guts of the team. Philly has the two best players and highest paid players with serious injury histories. It's not the same. We were better than Philly last year without them or Randle.
