Cle / Atl

Cavs get: De'Andre Hunter and Garrison Mathews
Hawks get: Max Strus, Jaylon Tyson and Georges Niang

Why?
Cavs get a quality starting small forward and get under the tax.
Hawks get a good prospect, a shooting specialist, and a Quin Snyder favorite in Niang.

Hawks have a full roster and can't do a 3 for 2. The biggest issue would be this moves the Hawks over the Luxury Tax
Garrison shot 44% from 3 last season (low volume but still)
Niang is awful on defense - Hawks spent the entire offseason upgrading the defense, so this is not a direction that would interest me.
Don't know enough about Tyson to comment but Hawks have a plethora of young 6'-5"/6'-6"guards/SFs to groom in Bufkin, Djurisic (when he returns from injury), Dyson and Vit and a GL player.
Hunter is what he is at this point - a guy that gives the Hawks 16ppg on 38% from 3 with solid defense. No real salary relief for the Hawks next year either.

Cavs aren't going to trade Tyson for a guy who has missed as many games as Hunter before they've even seen him play. They like Strus. If the Hawks want off Hunters money they'll take LeVert (expiring) and Niang. Maybe the Cavs add a couple seconds to Niang and he goes to a third team. That's really the only way Hunter is coming to Cleveland this season.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I think Strus is a better two-way player than Hunter and definitely is when you take contracts into account.

I have an incomplete profile of Tyson since I don't follow college ball, but he impressed the HELL out of me in Summer League, and I would take this trade for Atlanta as quickly as I can.

If Strus is the hangup, I'd do the deal with LeVert as well.
