If both the Knicks and Randle don't want an extension right now they have to have some contingency plans for the future. After the Mikal trade we don't really have much of an ability to pivot or add talent externally without trading contracts so we can't lose a contract for nothing if that makes sense.

One fallback I was thinking about was Skapintsev but he just signed with Boston.

No team is going to trade with NY when they know the desperation NY is in.

Richards makes sense with the money he makes.

I don't know why Begley keeps bringing up Capela. He makes 22 MM. Mitch only makes less than 15 MM. It would would salary wise and Capela would be a downgrade anyways. We would have to add like 7-8 MM more in salary to match the Capela contract.

Feel like we’ve got the upper hand on Randle with the negotiations. Looking at teams with projected max cap space it’s like the nets, wizards, and jazz of the world. Rockets and spurs also have cap space but it’s less than 30 million and I’m not sure the rockets would be interested in him. So unless he wants to go play in BK, he’s not gonna have a whole lot of options.

Yes, there were many options on the market to sign at the opening of free agency.

We could have offered them a starting spot on a contender in NYC for 1-year and take it from there.

It's debatable whether they should have traded the oft injured Robinson in the off-season for a more sturdy player.

But at the very least, once they knew they weren't going to pay I Hart, they should have made a move either signing or making a trade.

Now that our helplessness is well-known, we have to pay the rape price.

Richards would cost us Deuce.

With Capela we could keep Deuce but it would probably cost us both protected picks.

At this point, I don't think Rose wants to pay the price for a backup C. So he'll probably watch the waiver wire and then after that give the Knicks a chance to try out a small ball lineup.

Brooklyn is perfect for him. He can hog the ball, put up numbers and he won’t have to worry about the pressure of performing in the playoffs and being a colossal disappointment to everyone including his young son. The poor kid.
