Good news that Billy isn't going to just give Matas entitlement minutes. That said, his comment seems to infer that Matas lacks "pro habits"...not good.

What pro habits needs rookie prospect originally projected to go #1 at some point need to develop on a bad bad team? Who btw had already one year of pro basketball in g-league behind him? Guy basically skipped college ball to go pro. And now suddenly needs to develop pro habits on bad team?
Billy Donovan along AKME needed to be fired yesterday together. And this has nothing to do with liking Matas or not liking Matas.
Where are reporters asking this questions.

Are you somehow implying that Matas has nothing to learn as a professional? With all due respect, that is a crazy thought. The kid is 19 and none of us have any info on what his habits have been like on a day to day basis.

Yeah, this just seemed like generic coachspeak re: young players needing to learn stuff when the get in the league. It's utterly common that young players have not yet developed pro habits around nutrition, strength training, etc.
I just hope Billy doesn't use this stuff as an excuse to play low-ceilings vets chasing short-term wins.

Not I am implying what does make Matas different from any other prospect which came to league or Bulls drafted before him. That he specially needs what means be pro to play pro basketball. Because Donovan implies that in his comment about Matas. Thats what pisses me off.
If Donovan plans to use his position to keep not play Matas because he is rookie who needs learn ropes of what means pro on bad team then he can the f out from Chicago.
We are bad team, we dont have luxury not playing talent just because he is a rookie which didnt come to league with 10 years experience in pro basketball. And then after 3 years you will together with anyone else wonder what Matas ceiling is because you because he didnt play enough basketball. Because "he learned be pro".

Makes me long for the Demar Derozan offseason training sessions. It's a shame that the rest of our guys lake the leadership to take over for that role.

This is a major overreaction imo. Matas is going to play and he is going to play a lot. Billy is trying to instill positive habits in him and teach him how to be a pro. That is your job as a coach to help your players succeed to their utmost potential. Pat was gifted the starting position basically the moment he was drafted and look how that has turned out so far. I expect Matas to be brought along slowly initially and earn whatever minutes he gets. But as the season goes on and we accumulate losses, his playing time will increase more and more. AKME will make sure of that as well as it is clear Billy will do whatever it is they want. That's why he has lasted so long. But to assume from his comment that he is going to ride the bench the entire year is making major assumptions that to me are not realistic at all. Development is obviously the number one priority this season and will be treated as such but players also need to earn those minutes.

I love that we aren't starting him. I love that he'll need to earn minutes. I agree that he'll get more minutes after we're out of playoff contention. After watching SL, I think Matas will still lack the endurance to play anywhere near 30mpg this season, but 20 is a possibility toward the end.

Risacher with a nice first game.
Anyone watching Salaun bombing 3s? He’s way ahead of schedule. Fun watch.
Castle looks legit too.

Can you imagine this team with this play style with Flagg’s D and uptempo or Ace’s high volume 3s and fast breaks?
