The end of the second video (i.e., the one with Eddie House et al.) is really interesting. Joe stressed that a very important coaching choice is WHEN to deliver a message, and when to just shut up. The part right before about trust was good as well.

Just read that and said to myself "man, I bet he was a psychology major in college."

Then googled it and it says, "Joe Mazzulla earned a multidisciplinary undergrad degree in sport and exercise psychology, Spanish and business in 2009. He also received a master's of Science degree in Athletic Coaching in 2011.

. I might want to have some friendly fire his way during the battle, but I'd still go to war for Joe. Eat crow every time I say this too.

In fairness, we didn't learn the motivational and psychological side of Joe early on. We just saw the timeouts and obsession with bubblegum and The Town side of Joe back then, and I was more than skeptical. Next came Sicko Joe, and it piqued my interest. Now I'm fully invested in the Joe Mazzulla experience.

I will still have my complaints about Joe when the season goes on, SHOCKER !. But Joe has earned/won an all important title, 18, so I will be far less critical and with much more respect on my end.

It turns out that winning a championship your second season as Celtics head coach is not all that special. KC Jones beat that speed. Bill Russell and Bill Fitch matched it. Only Red Auerbach, Tom Heinsohn and Doc Rivers took longer.
