Degree of Sepration Draft RD1 Snakebites* -V- Fadeaway_J

Post#1 » by Larry_Russell » Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:15 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

Unlike my usual Luka builds, this group is as much about size and physicality as skill and shooting. AD-Dwight is a dominant 4-5 combo on both ends, we've got length and versatilty on the wing with Bridges, KCP, and DFS, and of course Luka is a massive lead ballhandler. Even with our bigger starting lineup, we have excellent shooting with KCP and Bridges, plus AD who has solid three-point range and was lethal from 16 feet and out in the playoffs. Our second unit with Mills, Curry, and DFS provides more of the classic four-out spacing, and we always have an elite roll man at the 5 in either Dwight or AD. Defensively, AD is the skeleton key who allows us to guard all kinds of lineups without sacrificing our athletic advantage.

Matchup
- AD starts out on LeBron, Bridges on Wade, KCP on Lowry, Luka on Jones, Dwight on Gasol. Bridges and DFS will also guard LeBron in spots. We have GOAT-level rim protection to counter the LeBron-Wade combo.
- Snake runs into a major matchup problem against our huge starting lineup. LeBron is his only wing with the size to be a viable Luka defender, except he's also the only one who can credibly match up with AD. Battier could conceivably take on a starting role, but at this stage of his career I think even his projected minutes load might be a stretch. Luka is in position for a big series, which will in turn open things up for Dwight and AD as finishers. We also have a pretty sizeable rebounding advantage, especially on the offensive glass.
- In addition to our big three of Luka, AD, and Dwight, Bridges slots in nicely as our secondary perimeter creator. Since he can not only knock down the open jumper but also create a good look for himself against single coverage or in closeout situations, it becomes harder to lock in on Luka.

Good luck Snake.

Lebron James 12-13 17.8 FGA - MVP, Finals MVP, All NBA First
Dwyane Wade 05-06 18.8 FGA- Finals MVP, All NBA 2nd
Shane Battier 12-13 5.0 FGA- NBA Champion
Marc Gasol 18-19 11.0 FGA- NBA Champion
Kyle Lowry 17-18 12.1 FGA- All Star
Eddie Jones 03-04 14.3 FGA
Alonzo Mourning 05-06 4.8 FGA- NBA Champion
Richard Jefferson 15-16 4.2 FGA- NBA Champion

Total: 88/88 FGA

Lowry (37)/Wade (11)
Wade (26)/Jones (22)
Jones (16)/Battier (20)/Jefferson (12)
Lebron (39)/Battier (9)
Gasol (30)/Mourning (18)

Alrighty let’s do this. My team essentially rolls with a better version of the Lebron/Wade duo (with 2006 Finals MVP Wade), and a group of high performing 3/D players to maximize them offensively

Everyone in my rotation except Wade and Zo are plus three point shooters.

We undercut Fade’s rim protection with Gasol stretching out Dwight and AD being forced to guard prime Lebron- overall I think front court defense is a major strength for Fade but it won’t be optimally utilized here.

While we may not have the size to defend against some of what Fade brings to the table, I don’t think he’s in a position to stop all of my perimeter players when I’m in a great position to punish any and all double teams with strong shooting and playmaking at all 5 starting positions.

Vote: Fade

Both teams are loaded, I simply think that Fade has better defensive options for Snake's stars than vice versa... Davis guarding LeBron isn't great but LeBron guarding Davis is even worse, especially considering that Fade can AFFORD for AD to be taken away from the rim given he has Dwight to back him up. KCP and Bridges are also very good to elite wing defenders to throw at the dynamic duo. Snake also has no one to guard Luka, I presume Wade's not gonna do it to conserve energy for offense.

I like both builds. I think LeBron Wade surrounded by fitting parts has a bit higher ceiling than Luka AD, so I'll go with that.

I think this is one of the worst possible matchups for Dwight (elite post D, floor spacing) and I like Lebron and Wade combo with spacing more than Doncic and Davis. Vote Snakebites.

I think Snake has one of the better teams in the tournament. Combined with Dwight Howards resistance to cooperating in a pick and roll format, where Doncic could actually use him, and Doncic being very iso heavy, I think that Fade's team will struggle to find much of a rhythm on offense.
